Just wondering what if any problems I would encounter with the above truck with such low miles, sounds good but would it be? It would be a 6 cyl, in mint condition for $33000. My insurance company might write my truck off due to an accident and the lack of side panels for my truck which is also a 2011 Tacoma trd off road.

    Thanks

Welcome to Tacoma World. My immediate thought is that 21k original miles is a scam, but if they aren't, then you are looking at anything that would go wrong with 13 years of age like tires, rubber parts, seals, etc. I'd be very curious about maintenance history and the PO's driving habits. Regional location and condition of the frame would be big parts of my decision. If that frame isn't spotless to the point you can eat off of it, I'd have a hard time paying that money.

Another thing to consider is if a 2011 is even worth $33k. I'm a big fan of second gens, but hot dayum that's pricey. Ignore if you have surplus cash overflowing from your pockets, not all of us have that problem.

But if you know the previous owner did regular maintenance, fluids changed, no accidents, etc...and you have the money to do it...and you don't care that you'd probably be immediately upside-down on KBB values...and you just love the truck and don't care what we think...then hey, go for it. YOLO.

Personally if I had the choice between that 2011 with 21k even if it was 100% mint and preserved in a time capsule, or my 2015 that I bought with 80k for $25k...I would buy my truck and spend the $8k I saved on mods all day every day and twice on Sundays. Many 2nd gens with regular maintenace can go several hundreds of thousands of miles so mileage on these trucks isn't too scary. Just like anything else, abuse or neglect by the PO would be biggest concerns. Mileage is not too concerning. Does 60k lower miles make $8k in value? Not to me.

Good luck whichever decision you make. One of the hardest things to do when buying vehicles is knowing when to walk away if you've already fallen in love with it. Not the end of the world but you'll learn lessons either way.

Nope, haven't fallen in love, I have only seen it advertised on a website for my area. As I might have to replace my truck as the collision repair shop is having a hard time finding a panel for drivers side of the box that was damaged in a collision. They may buy the truck from me, if so I have to come up with something fast and the 2011 is about the best millage wise that I have seen in my area. the truck itself is from Nova Scotia ( salt water area ) I am in the SW Ontario so no history available and at approximately 2000 KM's a year leaves me wondering. You have affirmed what I was thinking, I just needed to hear it from someone else.

    Thanks

I have a 2010 Acab, 4wd/SR5/TRD,every option, 12,900 miles, garaged since i bought it new, never been in the rain, frame gets waxed every year. Mine is not for sale but if it was I would be asking low 30's. Put new tires on it 2 yrs ago just for drill, sold the original ones for $400. A well maintained original with every service record, original paperwork and proof of all recalls done might be worth the big bucks to a particular buyer, you never know.

My Tacoma is 2011 TRD off road access cab with about 84000 mi. The person who had it before me was the second owner he bought it in 2013 had it oiled every year, took very good care of it. So if I lose it to the insurance company I won't be a happy camper. Is yours for sale :), sound pretty awesome, any pics. Now I will have to go look at the Tacoma and see if the have any documentation on it.

It's fine. We are way past the age of natural rubber and leather seals and as long as it wasn't driven and put up wet [which really does cause issues with rusting as dry times increase significantly] or salty it's a nice find.

I would have a hard time paying $7,000 more than msrp (@ the time) on a 13yr year old truck.
At 21,000 miles if there's no service records other than engine oil that's a major red flag.
Brake fluid, Diffs, transfer and transmission all need changed. Sure the oil may not have technically broke down, but condensation from sitting that long needs pulled out. Brake fluid is hydroscopic (absorbs water)
Tires and spare if original should all be replaced. Serpentine belt and all air / cabin filters too.

$30K and all above items addressed would be my top dollar if it was in pristine condition.

Also the 2012-2015 model year refresh gives some more modern features like factory Bluetooth and rear camera. i would look to pay less on a slightly newer vehicle with a few more miles
