This is my 4th MT with cruise control, this is the first one that pushing in the clutch doesn't cancel the cruise control. Caught me by surprise because I wanted to get off the cruise and slow down so I downshifted in 5th entering the off ramp to find out it's not slowing.

I thought of it as a safety issue at first, but I'll just have to get used to hit the brake or cancel button.

I did find a bonus though, I'm able to downshift going up a hill and upshift once on top without having to resume the cruise or touch the gas.

Hey OP, I have a ‘22 3rd gen MT. Pushing the clutch doesn’t cancel cruise control for me. Sometimes I downshift to 4th to get up some KY hills on the interstate and the cruise control picks right up again after the gear change.

Must be a Toyota thing, Nissan and VW cancel the cruise when pushing the clutch

If it’s like the third gen, then it would be only because you’re cruising in radar cruise mode. In the 3rd gen, if you hold the cruise button for a few seconds while turning it on, it will then resort to standard cruise which does cancel when you hit the clutch. I use standard cruise 99% of the time and not radar. Radar will continue to cruise when you press the clutch because it wants you to be able to shift the gears for acceleration purposes when radar slows down due to maintaining following distances.

Interesting, I'll have to experiment with that.

Looks like it may be clicking the cruise button multiple times instead of holding on the button like the 3rd gen. It’s a bit different setup because you now have all the dedicated buttons instead of the old school dedicated cruise stalk. So for me it’s the button on the end of the stalk. Yours you’ll get there by either pressing the button a few times or holding on it (I can’t tell from the owner’s manual).

I had a 2017 GTI and it did not cancel pushing in the clutch...

I take that back. The 2002 Cabrio was bought used and cruise didn’t work long, so no real recollection. 2012 Xterra and 2013 Sentra both did.

And it’s not a bad thing, just different.
