What is the best way to fix this for a new comer. I my Taco in 2017 from my great uncle and it’s been sitting for a bit and that hole came out of nowhere. I want to get it fixed and I don’t know how. What would be the best way?

Bring it to a reputable body shop

It will be expensive tho if you want it painted and everything

With a mess like that the first thing to do is a close inspection of the frame. Make sure the truck is worth any time or $.

Right now I'd bet against it unfortunately.

If the frame is peachy a replacement bed is likely the best choice. Unless that's the result of a dime store accident repair, the other side may not be far behind

body shops are generally the kind of place that do that kind of repair work. or do you have access to tools and a shop, and you're wondering how to repair it yourself?

By the looks of that I’d be going over the frame with a hammer first.

I've been thinking about getting my step dad to see what he could do but until then I think I might do what you said.

It's all good. Just ignore and drive it like you stole it. Maybe a little spray paint and it'll be good as new.

**IF** you don't find any other rust issues as mentioned, I'd start shopping for a junkyard replacement. I'm shocked, only a 2017, geeze.

You could always flat deck it. That much rust being visible I would suspect there is more. If you don’t know what to look for post a bunch of pictures from under the truck, frame. Did he back a boat into salt water with this truck?

That is a completely different story. As the others said, inspect the frame carefully as a lot of those trucks ended up being junked because of frame rot. New frames don't seem to exist any longer and used frame may well be as bad. If you live in a state where a lot of road salt is used, your odds of having a trashed frame are very high.
