Yeah it was actually cool this morning, crazy!

Morning peeps.

 

When I got my new tires I also bought new tpms sensors to replace the other set that’s a few years old.
The shop that swapped the tires didn’t set my truck to learn and the shop that did the alignment couldn’t get the ids from them.

I bought a TPMS tool and was able to get the truck to recognize the sensors! And they came right away during the first min a of drive to test them. The old ones were intermittent at best and would constantly lose signal.

Picking up a spare OR wheel later this week for my 255/85 spare that should fit no problem but I’ll still have to check.

also bought a brake fluid tester. It’s probably about time to change the fluid out as well.

Thats funny that you say this… when I had my new wheels and tires done, I had new Toyota TPMS sensors installed as well. They said there was no fee to program them because 2020’s and newer learn the new sensors. But mine fall-off constantly as well. Some days they are reading fine, others I have nothing!

What tool did you get and from where?

It can only program the specific brand sensors, but it can read, reset and set the truck up to relearn them. The sensors need to be ready to pair for it to work the that tool.

 

So… are you saying it would not work in my case with OEM sensors that are already “kinda” programmed?

 

I got to get over to Jones for my free oil change here soon, just about to hit a whopping 25k miles!!

Wonder if they’d be able to help?

 

You might be able to reset them with it but it can’t reprogram unless they are ready to be paired.

I’m sure jones will try and charge a bit for it

Dude you're put under the jailhouse for that now. Used to love riding in the back of trucks. Pretty sure I was the last age of being able to do that.

My dad had a '66 work van and I'd have to sit on the engine box in between the front seats when we went fishing. Probably not much safer. lol

Ah, the good ol’ days!! I definitely rode in the bed of dad’s truck as much as I could as a kid… made me feel like king of the world! Especially at the beach! But I think @Delta09 is right… if I did that now, CPS would be called on me and I’d have a shiny new set of bracelets. I won’t go on a rant… but this country is raising a bunch of bubble wrapped little P’s.

 

Tested the brake fluid and it said still under 1% so good to go. Noticed negative terminal loose again. Went ahead and bought a new terminal block and terminal block shim. Will probably use the shim for a little while then replace it.

 

Morning all

First trip into work with the new tires. Drive with OEM tires is about 72 miles. Drive today showed 64.8 and 15mpg. The 255s would usually show around 68 miles from the house.

I forgot to look at my speed vs what Waze says I’m going but I’ll do that on the way home.
