I use mine in 2016 about once a year, and when I do, it's because I need it.

That would have been a great Pro color.

Not sure of the pricing structure of the 4th Gen, but the 3rd Gen the difference in price between SR5 and Sport or Off Road was only around $1900, unless you were absolutely pinching pennies the SR5 was not a bargain.

Trd off road, pre runner, and trd sport are trim levels now. So a bigger jump and if you add the upgrade, but not premium package, it’s like another 5k jump to @ 50k.

For my deal, I paid 38k even. So it would be a jump from 38k to 47/48 for the cheapest OR unit my dealer had new, or 7k for a 4000 mile TRD OR early demo they had. Wasn’t worth 7k for wheels/tires, heated seats, marginally better jbl, and MTS/ locker that I would only consider using once or twice a year.

Got the TRD OR rims/tires dirt cheap and have plenty of money left over for stereo enhancements and even clazzio’s or something and still won’t spend half that 7k difference.

Went ahead and looked up the Base MSRP and it seems like they managed to keep the price difference down to $2500, obviously if you start piling on upgrade packages and options the price will climb.

If my math is correct, June sales are down 12.6% from May.

The 12.6% does not include the 212 HEV Tacomas sold.

Weird, where's the dudes in here who wanted to argue with me based on inventory days on hand.

Who knows...but there are at least 2 sides to every story. Either Toyota has the lowest day on hand inventory because they are selling them before/as soon as they hit the lots....or they are struggling to get inventory on the lots. I could make an argument for either one but from Toyota:

June, second quarter and first half 2024 highlights (volume basis)

    TMNA:

    • Second quarter sales up 9.2 percent
    • First half sales up 14.3 percent
    • June electrified vehicle sales up 64.5 percent; represents 43.9 percent of total sales volume, an all-time best-ever
    • First half electrified vehicle sales up 67.9 percent; represents 38.3 percent of total sales volume, an all-time best-ever
    • 29 electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicle options available at dealerships
    • First half passenger car sales up 12.0 percent
    • First half truck sales (SUVs and Trucks) up 15.7 percent
    Toyota Division:

      • Second quarter sales up 9.2 percent
      • First half sales up 14.7 percent
      • June electrified vehicle sales up 69.8 percent; represents 45.3 percent of total sales volume
      • First half electrified vehicle sales up 71.8 percent; represents 38.6 percent of total sales volume
      • First half passenger car sales up 13.6 percent
      • First half SUV sales up 28.6 percent
      • First half truck sales up 15.1 percent
      • Best-ever June sales:

So their sales numbers are up, just not the Tacoma...Why? I dont have a clue. For me as why I have not gotten one yet is that I can not find one local to me with what I am looking for. Premium OR with mud guards in Bronze, blue, or red....4th option is silver. I can get a silver one right now but I do not want the SDM. As of today though there are 7400+ Tacomas on dealer lots. 4850 of them are SR5 or SRs. Of the 2550 remaining only 500 are premium sports/OR or limited. I am thinking that if you want a Tacoma that is a non premium then it is out there to find. If you want a premium model in colors other than ICE, black, or underground then it is a lot hard to find. Also I think the economy is starting to pull back.

My dealer found an allocation for me–an OR with Premium and mud guards–but looking around, they are rare as penguins in Fairbanks. Good luck.

I've had 3 buyer back outs on OR prem's around me and TN (all black though) and all discounted right off the bat $4k. Agree anything OR prem BO or Underground is gone asap, but there arent that many to begin with so could be early adopters just snagging. IDK. I drove that one this weekend and was not impressed. I want to like it really do but just drove alien and just cheap inside and certain areas. Found a dealer demo Sport Prem 4wd for $48k discounted $7k. But black and sport, only had 1.9k miles though.

I'm still looking for June #s for Tacoma, you'd think the Tacoma would be killing it. Seems odd that Tundra sales are up with word of the recall. Perhaps Tacoma is pushing people into the Tundra. I think you are right, the economy is starting to pull back, it's going to get worse for dealers and manufacturers as this is only the beginning.

Yeah I don't envy you AK guys. Only 1 in the state total as of this morning. Were you the one talking about picking one up in OR and driving it back?

Thanks I looked right at it before and did not see it. 2,162 less Tacomas sold in June than May. Inventory must be building somewhere.

I keep wondering what hell is happening. Are the producing less on purpose?

And why don’t they have a brochure for this new generation? Did they fire everyone in Plano Marketing?

I think this is all part of it. Very few trucks with the trim/features I would want (DCLB-OR with premium package, not in underground, white, or black). I'm also not willing to go MSRP or travel far to find one, so there you have it. I think next year this time the desirable trims will be available at discount.
