Oh for sure, or use one of those phase converters

The 110 variants are benchtop type which I would consider; I'd relocate the stuff in that corner/wall @Zebinator mentioned

Just don't want to be hauling in one of those huge setups with no forklift

If the 3 phase equipment is cheap don't let it stop you. A rotary phase converter, will fix the 3 phase issue. just need to make sure its sized properly. roughly double the HP of the motor being run off the phase converter.

there are kits, and premade ones out there, or if you like you can build one, link is to a 10hp version.

    https://www.practicalmachinist.com/FitchWConverter.pdf

or you can go with a VFD conversion. My belt grinder is a 2hp 3 phase motor running off a VFD an it runs off a 240v circuit.

Shush. He's clearly establishing the justification for his next tool purchase. The one we all want to make.

If you keep your eye out I bet you can find something that would work for next to nothing. Some times the cost of moving the machine is more than it’s “worth.” My little jet is in that category, I’m afraid. But it’s a nice size too, like a 3/4 Bridgeport.

Benchtop setup is what I'd want, nothing larger.

Would make no sense to own anything bigger, or even one in general anytime soon.

    Surprisingly only $14 ea.

Since all their screwdrivers have a "No Prying" statement or logo on em, I asked if these would void the warry if I used it like a screwdriver?

Men when they find tools in their S/O's vehicle "Oh fuck yeah, free tools"

i think he meant 'Snap/On', not Significant/Other, but still funny!

i've got a similar set, they were a little cheaper, but just as useful for trim pulling.

I am still alive, just been busy with work, life, and a 2nd great dane puppy. I will be messing with the tire changer tonight. Tires are 265/75-R16 Wrangler Duratracs at about 1/2 of their tread life, on a set of TRD Baja "Beadlock" wheels. I am going to take videos of the following steps:
    • A quick, high level overview of the Modifications made and pros/cons of the Lucid Autowerks adapter
    • breaking the bead
    • assembling the tire changer to dismount/mount a tire
    • dismounting a tire
    • mounting a tire
I will post the videos to my instagram page and link them here.

The kicker: I have only used it once to remove a tire that needs to be patched, so you will see this from damn near a "first timer" perspective.

I will say this much right now: If I were to do this over, I would have either built the entire manual tire changer and everything from scratch, or I would have looked for a used machine that checks the boxes I wanted.

If anyone has anything else they want to see, or any questions about the setup, feel free to ask here or on IG.

Link to the overview of mods: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C87-tIwpKxK/?igsh=MTJqdmg0ZWhwMHF6ZQ==

The material used for the plastic sleeve/bushing is UHMWPE (POLETHYLENE) not polypropylene as i stated in the video.

Just to give everyone an idea of why I am critical of the Lucid adapter: I bought the DIY kit and it cost $325. and for factory sized tacoma wheels and tires, it sucked and would not work as intended when used on the Harbor Freight manual tire changer. When all is said and done, I have about $640 tied up in this set-up, not including Tax, shipping costs, time, and all the work that was done to make it function as it is advertised to. If I add the remaining features to make it a truly "ultimate" manual tire changer, (bead rollers, presser foot, and lever-less mount head) the cost will be closer to $1,000 which is putting this project into the territory of buying something nicer like the TC500m from Redline or a used tire machine that may need some attention.

When I raised the issue I had with the owner of Lucid, I was told No refunds and offered no solution, so if you want to make something like this, buy knockoffs on ebay for 1/4 the price and double the quality with confidence.

If anyone would like to build a similar set-up, I would be willing to draw up some plans and a BOM.
