Thanks for some useful direction. Reset via head unit what we could to personal preferences, don't notice any change. Walked back thru owners manual and -
(1)recalibration of radar unit required after removal/installation of grill.
    (2) Lane Departure Assist may not work in rain or bright lights, requires recalibration after tire change or aligment.
    (3) Pre Collision System uses both LDA camera and radar, may activate when overtaking vehicle making left/right turn. Recommend disabling when tires size changed? I've been blaming cruise control for this, will disable & test.
Want to get rid of tire noise anyway so will do 265s then get LDA & radar recalibrated - fingers crossed.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
When I had 265/75/16 tires on, my speedometer read almost dead-nuts on and my odometer read a little short. BFD. That size isn't even an inch bigger than my stock 265/70s.

All of the nanny shit is sensitive to tire size changes due to aiming.

Does the check light show up when you first turn it on? It should. I once bought a car that someone had snipped the bulb/led from the check light and it was actually on running open loop the whole time, until I hooked up a code reader I had no idea. The poor mileage sounds like open loop or low compression.

FWIW, I’ve got 33x10 and my Speedo is 4km an hour off. Really not a big difference.

I just keep that in mind when i get behind the wheel.

Oh man, last new Toyota with legendary Toyota reliability. Congrats!

From what I see, current Toyota USA is going downhill. IMHO they ruined the Tacoma roots with the 4G.

OP I have read some but not all of the 120 plus posts in this thread. If you are that unhappy with your Taco just quit your whining and bitching, it ain’t going to resolve anything, it ain’t going to make it any better. You bought it used and salvage title, that’s always a crap shoot. You saved a little $$$ and now you’re paying for it. Just sell it and move on. This is a Tacoma forum, don’t expect sympathy from a group of Taco owners who love and enjoy their Tacos. Time to put your big boy pants on , admit you made a mistake and get the truck of your dreams, what ever that is.

Update - after 500 mile trip last weekend new 265/75-16s were significant improvement, I can now hear radio, rattle of hitch and wind noise in doors on highway, much improved steering response & wet traction, Speedo appears dead on and odo about 8/10s off in 100 miles per freeway mile markers and reported gas mileage improved as expected. Still some trany hunting but more civilized and between 5th & 6th now. Scheduled for LDA & radar recalibration.

Everything but the poor mileage and the auto transmission hunting (I have a manual, I just see and hear you people complaining) are symptoms of the crash and whoever did the repairs. I dunno olfart, I'm sure a 2023 Tacoma with a salvage title still cost you a pretty penny....as my father-in-law told my wife and me after we purchased a used car that we ended up returning, "why buy other people's problems when you can afford a new one". If this keeps happening, I would punt on this one, and if you still want a Tacoma (they aren't great at anything IMO, but are reliable) buy a non-salvage title one.
