    Hello,

New to the forums, bought my first truck for some light duty work a few months ago (was a lease vehicle in great condition) but the 4 cylinders don't come with the wiring harness and trailer hitch pre-installed.

Finding a good trailer hitch is straight forward enough, but when looking for a wiring harness as close as possible to the factory installed ones I'm having some difficulty. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Your access cab should have a hidden 4 pin connector, (ground-parking-combined turns with stop)
Look for it behind the wire bundles Driver's side.

From there you could purchase parts or buy from Toyota the harness to the rear bumper.

    Should be behind this connector

So now you could purchase the 2nd Gen harness. Then purchase or have someone assemble a connector harness to mate into the 4 pin tow the kit has. Remove the cover to the missing bumper tow connector, purchase the tow connector then mate the assembled harness to it. If you require all 7 pins to be active, then it's a little more work, but doable.

Or even have a 4 wire with mating connector to the rear bumper:

I have a 2017 sr and was in the same situation. Not trying advertise but I went to etrailer and they had all the pieces needed from the hitch, the trailer pin connectors that go in the factory location, to a powered harness. Had I known about the hidden4 pin connector I probably would have gone that route but didnt think that was even there since it is a 4cyl. Installed 3 years ago and I tow on avg two weekends each month and have had zero problems. I would have to go back and look but I blv I got everything for less than $275. Took about three hours to install everything.

If OP is skilled he could assemble the parts and it be way cheaper than $275.00:burp:
