FYI The lake from the movie national treasure which is about 15 miles from Mount Rushmore and not behind it as the movie shows.

Hit the Badlands on your way back. Hope you got a few weeks. We’ve been out there 5 or 6 times and see something else each time.

I lived in Hot Springs for about 10 years. It's a great area to live and play. I didn't have a real 4wd up there, just a Subaru Impreza, and old 2wd dodge and a couple of bikes, one of which was a KLR650. My Dad however did a body off restoration on his FJ40 and used to go to the Cruiser rally up there every summer. I'm sure they would let non cruiser guys go along, or at least go to the meet and greets. https://dakotacruisers.com/black-hills-cruiser-classic/
There is also the Dakota Adventure Loop, which is ADV motorcycle based, but the parts I have ridden would be doable in a good 4wd. http://www.dakotaadventureloop.com/
My friends and I used to have a lot of fun out on the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands also. I would suggest if you are out there though to leave early if it starts to rain as most of the soil is bentonite and it basically turns to grease when damp. It's one of the few places I've been where it is possible to spend an entire day without running into other people. bring lots of water and rescue gear and rattlesnakes are plentiful and phone service is scarce.

Unfortunately I don't remember for sure; I will say that there was a whole lot of trails that looked similar to this though.
