Does anyone know how to disable the sidebar car view on the backup camera? It reduces the full view.

I believe you can disable the rear parking sensors via the maestro settings, which should remove the bar on the side. Can't confirm though, I do not have RPA on my truck.

I gave that a try. No luck. I’ll toggle it again.

Sorry everyone but it seems this is the direction I am going to go. Is there a complete list that I can use to purchase everything? There is 96 pages to this thread and I want to make sure I have the most up to date list. Fyi I have a non jbl setup.

That post more or less. Cross-check the Crutchfield site for your specific setup. IE XM antenna, USB cord, etc.

Ive not tinkered with it more. I'm thinking it's perhaps the wrong signal type? Or perhaps it's not getting power to the camera?

I was having issues with my maestro and determined with crutchfields help that my germes harnes and unit (which I have had for years) was messing up my steering wheel controls. I removed all that and just directly connected the front camera to the unit.

All that being said crutchfield indicated that I should connect the camera power to the power of the unit. However, I have been reading through this thread and people mention using the antenna wire to power the camera (tried that as well) without any luck. Someone mentioned grounding the camera but I am not quite sure what is meant by that. I assume ground for the unit is fine since it worked for years so I am a bit lost.

Looking through this thread, anyone have a guide or insight on what front camera works best with this glorious head unit? I have the anytime front camera install that worked with my old head unit but got water in the front camera and need a new one :(

Ok so I have everything installed except for Pioneer mic and the new Natika front camera I got.
There seems to be a ton of different answers/suggestions for front cameras.

Here is how things should be, as far as I can tell:
(this assumes you have a camera with a red/black wire and a yellow RCA with a red wire pig-tailed off that)

The red/black wire can be run into cabin and behind the dash and crimped into the respective red and black wires on your radio harness if you want to just be able to hit Camera View on head unit without a switch - the yellow RCA goes into the back of Pioneer RCA Plug for 2nd Video in and the red pig tailed wire is only used if you want to 'trigger' it off of someting to activate it.

Can anyone confirm this is correct?

(I don't have anytime mod or any other front camera or controller currently - just new Pioneer installed and a new front camera only)

Thanks for everyone's help in this thread - was only way I got through this install.

Other than putting the top Pioneer brackets on the display upside down, I drilled holes in factory bracket and got it mounted - then realized couldn't get center dash trim on because it sat too high haha - so flipped those around and all good now.

I think that’s right, although I’m pretty sure the way you describe has power on all the time to the camera. The black wire can be grounded in the engine bay if you like.

I added a switch in the left of the steering wheel cubby to toggle camera power on and off. Can you link to the camera you purchased?

This is the camera I got https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H852D49?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I did also see somewhere (maybe it was your old post) that some used the blue/white turn on wire

I didn't really want to add a switch for it - just wanted to see both cameras via the head unit Camera View function but maybe having a switch isn't a bad idea either

Do you have a link to what switch you got?

hard to see the color, but the one I have is a bit more white so it doesn’t match the factory blue backlight, but it does dim (tan wire if I’m remembering correctly). Here’s a link to one with a blue LED, so maybe it matches now??

Did you move your switch for rear window over there too or is that where yours is from factory?
Mine is in the middle under the AC controls - I have a 2021 TRD Sport
How did you wire the camera to that switch exactly? Assume you still have to run the RCA behind the head unit as well, correct?
    Thanks

That’s factory on my 2017 TRD OR W/premium technology package. I had a blank where I put the camera button.

Sorry, it was so long ago but try this thread for info. I do recall using add-a-fuse to power the switch relay as described in the thread here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dimmer-wire-tap-on-3rd-gen.421163/
