    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased some widebody fenders for my tacoma and I'm hoping someone in this thread can help me out with a few questions, especially if any of you have gone through this process.

Most body shops are passing up on paint matching work since they want to incur the installation expense. I have already fitted the fenders, so I'm just looking for a paint job.

Second, a few shops are also wanting to repaint my doors but I don't believe this is necessary. Anyone also complete this step?

I'm not looking to spend a crazy amount of money on a paint job since I've already invested a decent amount into the suspension and such. Anyone care to share how much you invested in the paint job of the fenders ONLY?

    Thanks everyone.

If they are already fitted then you just need a paint job. Body shot should be quoting you for that.

    doors may need blended.

What color/what year truck? Depending on the color, the shops that want to blend into the doors are the shops you should consider if your looking for a top notch color match. It’s all in what you want and what your willing to pay.

Black is the only color you don't have to blend. You could get duplicolor rattle cans and prime and paint it yourself and see how it turns out.

they want to blend into the doors specifically because while they match the paint code, and attempt to account for any sun fade the truck might have, it will never match the factory paint. by blending, they make the new paint appear to match the truck.

the issue with blending would be if you ever re-install the factory fenders. they'll look mismatched. that would be a discussion to have with them.

either the new fenders can be painted as close to the paint code as they can get it, with the risk of a miss-match, but the factory fenders will look good on the truck later.

or they can blend the new fenders into the doors, and the factory fenders will never look right if they go back on.
