TRD off-road iForce Max with Air Dam

Saw this at a dealership in Canada. Was surprised to see an Air Dam on an off-road?!

 

Pretty sure all 4th gens have it. 3rd gens the OR of course did not.

 

The non-Max Off Road doesn't come with one.

This is great news. At least the people that chose non-hybrid, can get under their truck to change the oil.

They added it for downforce, hoping to keep the truck on the ground.

 

I could swear I saw one with it. Might have been a pre production truck. Wild the hybrid has one then.

You are correct that there were pre production OR's showing up in YouTube videos with the front spoiler installed. I guess Toyota decided against it once the trucks started shipping. I actually brought tools with me to take mine off at the dealership when I took delivery of mine, because like you, I saw videos that showed it was included.

 

So why would they put it on the hybrid iForce max Off-road now?

 

Maybe for the slightly better mpg? Seeing as hybrid buyers are buying hybrids for the better gas mileage usually

That's what I was thinking. It might save a fraction of 1mpg. For the models where it doesn't bump them up one integer point, they might as well remove it.

Silly scheme. EPA should invest in fractions. Avoid this whole goodharts law.

 

that's what they are saying but I'm getting 18.9 MPG mixed HW and city. the city part is for about 3 miles a trip on a 30 mile trip to work. hell my 06 gets 17 and I'm running 285/70/17's on her. I'm about to climb under the 24 and take this POS off. makes the truck look like crap

 

Probably a mix up on the production line. 2021 TRD Pros also got the TRD OR bedside decal.
