I do! Get's driven every now and then when it's not too hot as I haven't gotten the AC fixed. I need to update my truck build as I got something big for that which has taken away funds for messing with the Supra. But it gets driven and enjoyed :D

Well that's good I had wondered if you took the engine apart in search of your 400hp or not. 7m is a neato engine, doesn't get much love but it's pretty stout.

Not yet, I've got a few other items before touching the engine but life is happening ha. Would rather keep it running instead of getting halfway thru a project

Yeah totally don't blame you on that. That's why I only ever do big projects in winter.

Most of my projects do that as well, but it's also when it's cooler down here so I tend to camp more then ha

Toyed with the idea for 10 minutes, a leaky targa top and a wet Spring didn't mix so it never got driven. But I quickly threw that idea away after I drove it a few times, way too fun to drive and already paid off

yeah If i could I'd buy one again. Unique cars and just fun to drive but also comfortable. Like a small GT cruiser type car. And plenty of power potential to be fun.

Exactly! Super fun and surprisingly comfortable, have no issues driving all day around town. It's just maintenance for now but would like to bump up the power a little in the coming years.

yeah easy enough to do. Hell just doing 3" cat back and the Lexus MAF housing and 550cc injectors and maybe CT26 upgrade to a 57mm would make it fun and probably make you hit fuel cut. Bt not a lot of money to get into the 320-350hp area ish.

Yeah, nice to get rid of the weird Karman MAF, put some larger injectors, and run boost control. But still those cars work pretty well stock as long as your power goals aren't too pie in the sky since they can't really deal with huge air masses computationally.

Yeah when i was building mine the plan was to swap to a MAP sensor for sure. I can't even remember what I bought, some very fancy piggy back though. Standalones were way to pricey back then. Wish I could remember the name of it. Was a pretty deep unit. Probably in my old build thread.

I do have the 3" cat back, I've heard of the other 3 mods for a little bump in power. I'd like to double check the head gasket before adding anything, the PO said they did that but hell I don't trust anybody with these things.

My parents helped me buy a 87 (non-turbo) when I graduated HS. This was in the early 2000s. I drove it for 3 months before I realized it had a blown headgasket. I bought a repair manual, the special allen-head tool for the headbolts and gasket set. My friends dad let me use his garage at his house. I was just starting tech school and still pretty green but I got it done and it actually went pretty smooth. I drove it for another 5-6 years before selling it to another friend. Shoulda kept it

It was non turbo but it had a solid roof and a manual transmission. All stock except some coilovers. Burgundy on burgundy interior lol. I was obsessed with how it looked. What a great car.

Ah that's awesome! Thanks for sharing, sucks about the headgasket but it's the norm on these! Glad you were able to keep it running. Glad I didn't think about selling it for long as it seems it's a regret of most people I've talked with unless they upgraded.

yeah definitely want to check that! Or at least put a torque wrench on it. The OEM one will hold the power if properly torqued. Can't remember what that was. Think they did it to only 55ftlbs and needs to be like 75? Been a while..

ha thats what happened to me. Bought my 87 turbo from an older couple and within like a day knew the HG was blown. I should have listened to my dad and just repaired it to drive and enjoy it. Instead I decided on a full tear down and build for mo powa baby! And i never finished it...of course. Sold it to fund repairs for rolled Frankenstien for nothing. I did get to drive it when it was back together stock though. Had hoped the guy would sell it to me when he was done but he sold it to someone else for probably more that I'd have paid anyways.
