Fair enough! :) Under promise and overperform is a motto I try to live by - I'd rather people be surprised I do a good job, rather than disappointed I did a mediocre one. The stuff I have seen in your pics make me think you outperform most folks.

I'll have to look at the 4WP install instructions to fully understand the install. Might it be worth sending out 'raw' parts, (not welded, not bent) and have the end user do that work? My current understanding is two bends at 90 (a right and a left!) and welding nuts in place. By keeping it a flat pack and reducing labor (other than cutting and packaging them) the drain on your time would be kept to a minimum.

Yep, that was the intent with these parts (sending unbent)

The relief cut I incorporated was so that anyone can bend this on a table's edge

    20240709_111101.jpg

This wouldn't be the case for the finished product though as it'd be much thicker

I did get rid of my press, and although I do still have the brake fixture itself, I won't have a means of bending metal

So for the actual product, I will most likely buy a small setup just for small jobs like this one

    Tools require money right :spending:

We'll see how it pans out though, we're still pre-mock up!

(thanks for the kind words btw)

I really should add my location to my damn profile

I'm good now, but in the event that you or @OZ TRD needed something else mocked up I've got a fairly open schedule

This time around was just for these stiffeners

I may need some fab work done to a bumper in the future depending on how things go. Either way I would be interested in a set of these.

Thanks - I am good for now - but I occasionally have the odd metal project... I'll be in touch! - I just thought I might be able to assist as it seemed we were somewhat close by...

I am good on stiffeners. (I have LilB's standard stiffeners. I really like them as I drilled additional holes in them so I have lots of tie-down options.)

    Yeah no prob

Coming from little odds and ends I've sold, I get more one-off requests than you'd imagine so don't hesitate

Even had plans drawn on a napkin and a pic of it sent to me before lol

Ok paper templating went surprisingly well. The main L piece fit pretty well as is.
I lined it up to the truck as well as I could and drilled tiny holes to mark where the pieces will mate together.
Then I went back to the computer and lined up the template to put the marks in CAD.

Most of the holes were close but it's way more accurate now.
The original corner bracket holes I drew were way too high. It went up into the curved part of the bed. So that piece is shorter now.

The only thing I'm missing is two additional slots for those plastic cable guide things. I think they're on the 2.5 or 3rd gen.
I have a 2nd gen and my truck doesn't have them.
If someone wants those added, they can trace the holes on paper like I did and mail it to me. Then I can add it to the CAD.

Beyond that, I'm pretty confident this will fit my truck as is. So Kwikvette if you want to cut it out, I can test it.
I based the bend line on 10 gauge (0.135") steel, using the SendCutSend bend calculator.
The drawing will change if a different thickness is used.

    Updated CAD file is attached

Oh one more thing I don't have a welder but I think regular nuts can be used.
The holes are based on M10 hardware as listed in the 4WP instructions.

I'll have to give you my email so I can get a dxf unless you can post a zip here?

As for slots, I've got a 3rd Gen coming by this Saturday

I can formulate a parts list although I think that manual has the exact dimensions already

Have lots of hardware on hand, specifically weld nuts too

Ok, looking at the install instructions again (but sober)

Now I see that the short, two-hole plate, is the exterior piece

This means that only two of the four holes on the inside bracket are used since two are for a vertical install and two are for a horizontal install

I will really need to make a new thread to gauge how many would prefer a vertical install and how many would prefer a horizontal install

Why? To utilize less hardware overall (welded to the inner mounting bracket)

Secondly, I could make the outside piece specific to the install orientation by incorporating a tie down and if desired...a logo in the correct orientation
