It's less Tacoma and more mod
I know not many of you are interested in computers and certainly even less are interested in vintage computers. But the anniversary of the death of a personal computing pioneer is tomorrow. Gary Kildall wrote the first widely used operating system in home computing, CP/M (what DOS was later designed off of). A single man who as a hobbyist wrote the first OS that was able to allow applications and information to be shared between computers of different manufacture and architecture, something we take for granted now but was unheard of then. Even after Microsoft and IBM copied CP/M to generate QDOS and other later DOS versions Gary still innovated and pivoted to create the first DOS variant that was capable of multitasking (again unheard of in personal computing). Even after Microsoft and IBM once again copied that idea Gary went on to develop the first CD-ROMs for use in a computer, a 550mb Encyclopedia in 1985 and it featured such modern ideas as hypertext and search. His contributions and pioneering ideas are often overlooked and instead names like Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, and IBM are often referenced in literature but the fact is the timeline for those companies most influential releases would have been pushed out incredibly far if it weren't for the contributions of Gary Kildall. Some here can probably relate to him more through his other hobbies as well, he enjoyed building and driving circuit track race cars, sailing/power boating, and owned a few personal aircraft that he piloted for fun. I've read so much vintage computing history but I think Gary deserves more than just a footnote in other companies' success (none of which he ever worked for, most of his ideas were stolen from him and many copyright suits and legal battles were fought).

Time to change the lunch menu for the kids ski school next season.

I have seen a kid try to drink one of these.

That kid had taste though, he knew it was a moscow mule and not a coors light or other monstrosity of a drink

damn brake light fuse popped on the T4R again, cannibalized one from the headlights for the rest of the drive to work. Gonna have to figure that out

It leaks too much to be sitting in anyone's driveway

That's why the GX will go in the garage and the 4R can get parked in front of the house :burp:

I'm starting to think that's why these old "ribbon" style driveways exist, which is what we have. Perfect for when your shitbox leaks and you don't want it to be an obvious mess
