Hello Everyone! My name is Angela but Everyone calls me Ang for short. In 2017 I bought my first toyota tacoma it's a 2014 four door ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love my truck very much, and will be a continuing customer. However, the only issue I'm having currently is learning the Bluetooth pairing. I recently had to get a new phone , and that's when the issue happened. I didn't know that you can only have five pairing device in ur vechicle. I did research because it wasn't allowing me to remove all the five devices so then I tried the hold down on app button the switch lights on an off three times, it told me to hold down on the (init ) button but that also won't let me do that it has a red trim on the button. I'm totally losing hope :( help

    Hello Dennis,
I had a friend do it because it wasn't letting me , and he was able to remove three devices from my truck . However, it will not let me add devices he suggested bringing my truck to a Toyota dealer to update my system; which I tried but I guess the dealership has a machine of some sort. I'm going to the Emerson Toyota dealer in auburn maine to see what they can do. My truck is a 2014 tacoma I bought it in 2017 and only one owner previously so the truck has never had an update so I'm assuming it probably needs one; which I had no clue that I needed to do that lol . Plus the other issue is when I'm driving it does like a rumble I looked it up , and it could be caused by poor fuel or needing a fuel injector treatment ; which I didn't know I was suppose to do that approximately twice a year. I've always gotten middle or high quality gas at the pump , and never had issues but it makes sense that build up gets up in there.

If it's the OEM system, these head-units are wicked buggy. Try re-setting it: When it is powered on, hold down the power/volume button until it goes blank and re-sets. It won't remove your paired phones but it may now let you remove/repair anything you want. If the unit freezes up and won't do anything, (none of the buttons work at all) a re-set will also clear that. This works on my 2014. (OEM Entune+) When I pair and remove phones on mine, it doesn't always succeed the first time. It also has trouble sometimes adding my four frequent contacts to the main screen and/or the entire contacts list as well. Re-setting brings them all back.

Good luck and Welcome to TacomaWorld.

Guess what !!! I went to make an appt then right after I was able to get my phone hooked up ( weird). I asked them if there was a system update for the audio system they told me no that they'd have to take it apart My truck was owned by a family with small kiddos then I own it now so it's not like the system was fried or something.

The update can be done without taking anything apart. It's a software update that you can download to a thumb drive and install it yourself through the USB port. Go through the menus on the head unit and you can verify the current software version you have. Then go on the Toyota website and see if there is a later version/update. I think the process is also explained in the owners manual. Google search or look through here and search for Entune software update. FWIW, I went through this with my 2014 (Entune +) and there was no update for my unit. Mine still hangs at times with no response from the buttons or touch screen. Performing the power button reboot/reset fixes it every time.

I would also suggest you say goodbye to that dealer forever.

    Hey Williston,
Another issue I posted about my Toyota tacoma 2014 v6 long cab . I was having a rumbling noise at 40miles an hour I did x2 fuel injection treatments ( that wasn't it), I then changed my sparks with denzos ( that wasn't it but was needed anyways), then my third guess was a transmission flush. I got my third opinion all mechanics 20+ experience of course , and my third mechanic took it for a spin , and said a transmission flush so I made an appt but it's not till the 26th of August so I guess I won't be taking my truck next week to Williamsport PA to see my dad in the dementia unit I'll leave my truck home , and my mom will take hers thank god! Do you think it will be safe to just take it to work an home? I live 9 miles down and back.

How many miles on the truck? 104,000 on mine when I purchased it 6/2021. I had mine done (flush) at 119,000. I thought long and hard about that vs a pan drain and re-fill. I was going to have the Toyota dealer do it regardless: No way I was going to deal with the temperature and re-fill process for either. Considering the good maintenance history record I had for the truck, I decided on the flush-and fill. Dealer charged me $272. Worth it in my opinion and they didn't gouge me on the Toyota WS Fluid. Might be because I previously had the diffs and x-fer case, coolant and spark plugs all done there previous as well. The transmission shifted same as before the service (fine) and I now have 134,000 on it. FWIW: They told me the diff and transfer case fluids looked decent with no debris on the magnetic plugs except some fuzz, and to me, after the service, the driveline sounded noticeably quieter after the service. Hard to explain this phenomenon, but it's definitely there and doesn't last as you re-adjust to the truck sounds in everyday driving.

How many miles do you think you are going to drive it until the 26th? I don't know if 100 or so miles driving is going to make a difference, but if you get peace of mind borrowing your Mom's car, I'd consider her offer.

IMO: It's worth doing it even if the rumble doesn't go away after. You'll have eliminated one item on the list. I would do the diffs and x-fer case next. Lots of write-ups in here about it and how to do it. I had the dealer do it mainly because of the front-diff plug nonsense. They gave me a good price on that too: $284 for all three units.

    Hey Williston,
My truck had 62,000 miles on it when I bought it in July 2017 it was a one owner/family. Now it has 119,000 almost 120,000 on it I'd do it , but I didn't want to deal with that either plus my truck is my baby and whatever she needs she gets asap hehehe so I decided to bring it to a well knowledgeable mechanic that works on toyota ( their specialty) to get it done ❤️ from maine where I'm located to Williamsport PA it's an 8-12hr drive so it's well over 100miles. I'm just gonna leave my truck home , and only take it to work an home. I will be off from work from the 2nd till the 18th so I'll only have to take it to work a few times till my appt.

Good choice. Missed it that you were in Maine. That's a long drive with an unknown noise going on the whole time. Having a local shop that specializes in Toyota's is nice. I took mine to the dealer for the fluid change as there really isn't one near me. I have been taking my Volvo's for years to a local specialty shop that only works on them. He is an honest genius when it comes to those cars. I've had a few of them including two Volvo 240 wagons that both had 300,000+ miles on them when they gave up. Electricals and rust did them in but the engines and transmissions were still perfect. No oil use, and perfect shifts. I found out at some point that the automatics in them were manufactured by Aisin, which you may know is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota. The A750 in the Tacoma's (and probably every other Toyota) is made by Aisin. No wonder they last so long!

I guess what I'm trying to say is get the trans fluid changed when it's prudent and convenient after all of the travel obligations are over, and if you can put it off using your Mom's "loaner" in the mean time for your trip, (your mom's car) do that.

Good luck! If you do something (maintenance) that made the rumble go away, please circle back and let us know.
