Have lot of water in my tacoma”s ARE MX 3rd break light after buying the shell used 4 1/2 years ago. Any recommendations on best replacement without costing an arm and a leg? Or easiest fix?

If it's still functioning I'd try to take it apart and reseal it.

Otherwise maybe you can replace it with something aftermarket: https://www.spoilerlights.com/sl-category/truck-cap-lights/a-r-e/

Can you not drain it, clean it and reseal?

Autozone has the best light for approximately $20.00
I work at their competitor but don't come here. LOL AUTOZONE only.
This light works with the tail lights and brake lights. Nice unit

Do you happen to have a link for that particular light?

No I don't. Just swing into the store and they're in the trailer/LED light section. You're looking for a Hopkins LED high mount light. Make sure they have 9-10 LED lights and not 3.
Orielly's carry them also just don't get the 3 LED light one.

Had the same issue (amongst other leaks) with my Revo. Since the specs would have made an issue out of it, I had to address it.
The brake light is stuck into the space in the topper with nasty sticky tape. I carefully levered the bottom of the light up and cut the tape. As the light was freed, the cleaning of the tape residue was the next task. I used adhesive remover which worked quite ok.
Then I drilled little holes in each of the chambers of the brake light and drained the water. Took compressed air to blow out the rest of the water, then let it sit in the sun for 30 mins, wholes up.
Cleaned the brake light and the mounting space. Taped the edges of the mounting space to reduce possible mess (and now I hate ceramic coating-the tape does not stick well). Then applied a thin clear silicone worm around the contours of the mounting space and the cable area (which the drilled hole in the topper is way bigger than the rubber seal around the cables). Not too much silicone, in case I need to take the light out again at some point.
Took water mixed with washing liquid to smoothen the silicone squirting out from between the brake light and the mounting space. Removed tape - and now wait to see what happens.
Prudently, I will order a spare light just in case... ARE PN 19071. https://www.ezwheeler.com/products/...s-heavy-duty-6-pc-tl2002-1?variant=1043004391
