Title says it all. I ordered a set of black/red TRD 4x4 Sport decals to replace the white ones… I think the black/red will look better on the MGM dark gray. Anyone done this and is it a pain removing the decals?

Black on Grey always looks subtle and nice IMO; red will make it pop more. It's a pretty common swap (example below).

Goo Gone (NOT GOOF OFF) can help, or you can just buy a rubber eraser wheel that goes on any drill. That's what I used to cleanly and easily take my decals off (as have many others).

With Goo Gone (or any solvent) always test a low vis spot to see how your paint handles it. Honestly, Goo Gone should be 100% fine, but better to be safe than sorry. You just slather it over the existing decal, let it sit for a bit and it'll dissolve the adhesive. Then just peel/pull it away after that. You may need to clean up the adhesive residue with more Goo Gone or Isopropyl alcohol. Which is why I like the Rubber Eraser Wheel, no gooey adhesive! Pop it in your drill, clean the area of any debris/dirt (you don't want to rub that in) and try it at a LOW RPM/Torque setting (the wheel typically warns what not to exceed). Never stay in one spot for too long, and if you don't crank up the speed too high you'll never burn through the clear.

You can see the rubber wheel residue on my actual wheel before I fully cleaned it off.

For application, it's like any sticker/decal. Measure and I prefer the wet method (a little bit of soapy water) when applying, so you can make micro adjustments, then squeegee and let it dry.
