Looking forward to getting a set of KO3's once these wear a bit more. Would like less road noise and better rain traction characteristics.

 

What's the sidewall flex and handling experience on-road, especially at highway speeds going to be like with 285/75/16x8 vs 285/70/17x(8.5|9)

Hey Cementman, tell us more. Give us the ‘deets’. Rim width, lift, body chop, etc. I like those rims.

 

Not a “man” but I will share the deets. I went with Reika Rambler r35 17x8.5 with a 0 offset. I also went with some bfg ko3 in a 285/70/17. I have Bilstein 5160/6112 and an icon rxt leaf pack.

Does anyone have the Yokohama Geolandar p285/70r17's fitted? I'm interested in this tire as a lighter, less aggressive All Terrain. I'm coming from p265/70/17 Wildpeaks and i'd like to go to a bigger size tire but would like to keep the weight down. According to my quick research, these seem to be the narrowest and lightest p285 out there.

i am about to take my 6" RC lift down to a 4" and getting out of 285/75/17's to a 285/70/17 myself!

 

285 70 17. . Dobinson ims 2 inch front. Add a leaf rear 1.5.

Dont have more picture at moment. Went with https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s..._AAL_with_u-bolts_(PAIR)_-_HS-TOY516-3AL.html. No overload, stock shocks on the back... no sway bar.

 

285/75r16 Wildpeak A/T3W on TRD beadlock-style wheels (+10 offset, 7.5" width). Bilstein 5100's with OME 2885 and Icon AAL.

Problem: Front tires rub against the stock UCA's while turning at a specific angle and entering or leaving an incline.

Proposed Fix (options):

1. Add hub-centric wheel spacers
Pros:
a) Tires will clear UCAs
b) Cheaper*
Cons:
a) Increase negative offset may cause rubbing against body mount an plastic, which will require BMC and other mods.
b) I'm not crazy about the wide "stance" look.
c) any other potential issues associated with spacers
*Potentially a lot more expensive if cons a) and c) occur

2. Replace stock UCAs with trim-profiled, tubular UCAs
Pros:
a) Might clear tires
b) Future modification readiness
c) More durable hardware, assuming I use a high-quality and reputable brand ball-bearing UCA
Cons:
a) More expensive*
b) Might not clear tires resulting me having to still add spacers, BMC, and other mods to plastic, etc. to create clearance.
*Potentially cheaper if cons a) and c) of using spacers occur

3. Buy wheels with negative offset or smaller tires
Nope. I love these wheels, and I can't afford other freakin' tires.

Question: What option do you suppose is the best?
