Hey fellas, I am looking to finally swap out the old radio, and get in with the new. What are you guys using for apple care play touchscreen systems? Will a new radio bezel be required for installation?

Please leave links below with recommendation where to get them, trying to ball on budget. :help:

I have a Boss unit from Crutchfield. Didn't need new bezel.

I usually go to Crutchfield and put in my vehicle they tell you everything you need. I put both a single and double din in our trucks. You have to reuse your factory radio bracket.

If I'm not mistaken, this blocks access to your A/C controls?

Just about any name brand unit will work fine these days. Just choose one that has all of the features and specs you want. I almost went with a Boss radio from Crutchfield because they were the only standard double DINs that had physical controls for a reasonable price and I believe they have a 3 or 5 year warranty.

I usually shop Best Buy for pre owned units. I was able to get a $1200 radio for $380 that was pretty much brand new. I’m running a Kenwood DMX1037S. I had to design and 3D print a new auto shift knob for it to fit, but very happy with it and it doesn’t block anything that I actually use.

Any double-din should bolt right in. Just need a wiring harness, which is like $10 on Amazon.

I will say, the radio location is not very well suited for a carplay type screen. Its really low, and trying to use it for GPS etc will be a bit annoying because of how far off the road your eyes have to go to see the screen.

IMO a good phone mount up high around dash level and any bluetooth radio are just as good as a carplay radio in these trucks.

I've thought about one of these too: https://www.amazon.com/HAUXIY-Wireless-Touchscreen-Navigation-Bluetooth/dp/B0CQP3CVCD/

They act as basically a carplay only screen, and connect through bluetooth down to your actual radio. A lot of them look like cheap chinese junk though so not sure how well they actually work.

I have a kind of old Kenwood Excellon double din that I pulled out of a car I sold. Mad expensive when new but extremely good. Front and rear cam inputs, HD radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple Airplay, just a killer HU. It's model DDX9905S. If you can find a deal on one they are awesome.
