True. If someone did as I described out of ignorance, they could still end up having coverage denied for a claim even though there was no intent. Fraud is to steal/attempt to steal via deception. Misrep is either knowingly or unknowingly presenting something as one thing when it is another. In NJ, if you are found to have materially misrepresented something related to your insurance policy when a claim occurs, they will deny 1st party coverage but not 3rd party coverage. Instead, they will drop your liability limit to the state minimum. In many other states, all coverage will be denied.

I've probably encountered the commercial use/personal auto policy situation 50 times during my career when I was in field claims. Coverage was denied by the adjuster in almost every case.

    I got one.

I have a roofing claim that my insurance woefully under-adjusted and underpaid. Upon my roofer's advice, I hired an independent appraiser who then sent a letter to my insurance on the 1st. It has been crickets since then, despite me prodding them for at least an acknowledgment of receipt.

    What's the process here?

They have a certain amount of time in which to respond, but your policy almost certainly includes an appraisal clause. Your policy is a contract, so they cannot choose to ignore you. If he mailed the letter, it may take a bit for it to get to the right person. If he emailed it, they should have it. I would suggest calling the adjuster and offering to email it directly to the adjuster. If they do not respond to you by the end of the month, I would file a complaint with your state's Department of Insurance or equivalent. Insurers have to respond to those, and they don't get very much time to do so. I'm one of the people who responds to them for our company, and I can tell you that if the complaint/concern is legitimate, I will resolve it same-day.

Thanks! I heard it's BAD, but maybe a little less for females? My ex-wife says if there's two vehicles(my truck and her Camry) and two drivers (me and my daughter) she will be the primary on the car regardless of whether she has her own policy or not. Again, this is my ex speaking so maybe she's right...maybe not, but I'm not going by just what she says LOL.

In my day it was not as bad for females. Also, I pulled some stupid shit and gave two classmates whiplash in 10th grade.
