This is my father in laws machine and I paid a local company to move it up to my house. I think it was 200 bucks for the move. It’s been here for the last 1.5-2 years now. I’ve said many times, any time he needs to back, I’ll pay the fee again. I do have access to bigger trucks and trailers but it wasn’t worth the hassle for me to try and move it at that price. It’s been awesome to have at the house.

 

Any skuttlebut on the acquisition of this unit?

Its not that I can't pull a bigger machine, cause my trailer & truck are rated for a lot more than what mine is.

Got into the size we have cause thought it would be "enough". Yet still yard/space friendly. It is.
But like everything else equipment wise you buy: ya always find a way to max it out & go=. Huh should of got a bigger one.

Very easy could of went to an 8500lb machine & just didn't know it would ever be needed.

Lmao........ Well "needed" might be a stretch & it for sure would of been tougher on the yard.

 

That price ended up a no brainer for me. I had a feeling it would be up on my property for a long while. Beats renting a machine!

 

I asked neighbor how much I owed him, he said you don't owe me a thing. We trade off help with each other, he's been my family's neighbor for 43 years. Best neighbor you could ever want.

 

The man who lives beside us lives on family land, close to 100 acres. He and his siblings are so nice. One of his brothers lives 1/2 mile away the way the crow flies, 2 miles to drive.

He came by Thursday and brought us 2 blackberry plants and offered us some cabbage from his garden with bugs in it for our chickens. Told him we’d come get some today.

Good neighbors are such a blessing.

im so pumped! i just found the exact tiller my pops bought 40 years ago! only difference is the b&s motor color. ours was black. 5hp 206cc. this one is a local-ish free one!. hope i get it.

 

When the kid was about 9 or 10 he rode motocross. There was a family that was big into it who owned an excavating company. So the family missed a local motocross which was very strange. I ask one of their good friends who was there what was going on, apparently the day before his brother took his son for a ride on the dozer. Well, the kid ended up under the dozer. Now I know, a tractor, or a riding mower, isn't a bulldozer. That said, having worked as a golf course superintendent for 30 plus years, I always shake my head when I'm driving down the road and see someone on their mower with their kid in their lap. Like I said, I let my kid ride motocross, but he was never allowed to crawl onto a machine built for one person and ride in my lap. Nor would I let them ride one by themselves until they are appropriate age. You just never know.....

so i got that tiller. it ends up being the lil brother of what i had. comes with a complete manual covering 4 models. like all part #s in exploded view, in english, only english. dated 6-75. havent had time to try it but i assume its like a 3.5hp. 1 owner....she even drains the gas and oil for winter storage. think it advises so in the manual. fun lil project to play with.

 

I grew up riding whatever with my dad, my brother and I would ride on the back cultivators of his Farmall 140 standing there all day cultivating corn or tobacco. Also used to stand on the floorboard and hold onto the fender on his John Deere 1020 and ride for hours like that.

Dangerous? Absolutely.

Time with dad, priceless.

Luckily we lived to tell about it as car seats weren't invented yet and seat belts were frowned upon.

We would stand on the black bars and hold onto the 5/8" rod and hope to not get our fingers pinched when we hit a rock. Would I let my kids ride back there? No way.

Well she got it done. Rain expected Wednesday thru Saturday this week estimated around 3" in total. So I will see where I need to put rock breaks in or not.
