Sounds great! I also just realized that even if I did get the whole package from you, I could always just make my own plate design for the tie down and use all your parts for the internally mounted stuff.

One other question, will you be using all metric hardware? I think I saw you were looking at M12 or M10 so I think you are but wanted to check. SAE hardware on a Japanese vehicle always makes me cringe

If you or anyone else had a specific request (and even drew it yourself) I'd be happy to include such a piece with the kit in lieu of what I have posted so far

As for hardware, I welded an M10 x 1.50 bolt to the small jig to use M10 x 1.50 hardware

I'll be providing all the hardware for this kit unless someone really wanted to just use and weld their own hardware and save a few bucks

Dude, you rock! OK, I’m in for sure then and if whatever the group wants for tie down doesn’t fit my picky nature I’ll draw something up and if you cut it, awesome, if I send to send cut sent, that’s fine too.

If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know.

Sheesh that'd be awesome if I could!

    Font too big though

Looks good when the font is big though! Made this for my wife's co-worker as a surprise gift...but smaller than that then it starts falling apart

Tomorrow will answer a question I have for myself - how far past the mount holes until the bracket is exposed to work as a tie down?

Red line here is just an example, but ideally I want to make this as short as possible while providing utility. I don't want anything to extend farther than it has to.

What is the plan for deposit? Venmo? PayPal? Square something? Wire transfers? Cheque? Let us know so we can be penned in.

I made a separate list for those willing to do a deposit - FYI deposits apply to the total purchase price for all those reading.

I use PayPal, Venmo, and recently added Zelle as it goes to my bank.

I can take a personal check too, but will hold an item until it clears.

I typically do everything cash, but for the forum, electronic payments as mentioned above.

Also, I use Pirateship for shipping via USPS and UPS.

The last obstacle I foresee is finding the right sized box to minimize shipping costs for all. I used ULINE for purchasing boxes for the 3D dino's I sell so I may have to go that route as well for these.

I can do Zelle. What’s the min? 50 bones? Once you figure out shipping, can*** depositors can send you the rest before you ship? Just brainstorming.

I’ll buy a set, don’t really care what style tie down or not it is, I’ll just chop off what I don’t want in the bandsaw

will it fit in the flatter medium flat rate box? ~11x13x3

Depending on the bend radius, I can make it work in the medium flat rate boxes I have on hand!

Others seem to like the design with it sticking out but my preference would be zero stick out. Something that has little to no chance of getting caught on something, doesn’t interfere with cargo…etc. I’ll keep looking for more fun/creative ideas but in the absence of a better idea I’d rather have a standard D ring in this location than have a 2”x2” slab of steel sticking out into my bed. And that’d be easy to add for any of us without any design change on your end. Perhaps just a slightly longer bolt to accommodate the thickness of the D ribg bracket. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q2H38F6

Often times I’ve found the flat rate USPS boxes are best unless you’re shipping a short distance. Close distance a custom, small box is usually cheaper, further distances a flat rate is usually cheaper. But it varies wildly. I’d also be willing to accept multiple shipments and have others pick up from me if that happens to be convenient. I’m fairly centrally located in SoCal.

Some of y'all are here just to follow along, so thought I'd share a little something.

I used to use a harbor freight press with a swag offroad brake kit. Now, I've made skids, and bent up several misc items (both for myself as well as sold items) and it was great

    20230607_111210.jpg

The problem with the setup was that, I would also get requests for small parts out of thinner material.

I had tried to improve on the suggestion of "stacked angle iron" and tried making a smaller die for a tighter radius even

    20230915_153821.jpg

    20230915_192728.jpg

But even that wasn't enough for a nice bend

    20231017_160054.jpg

I found myself incorporating relief cuts for nicer bends on thin stuff, sold the press, and put my swag kit in storage. I'll use the swag kit top die set again, but once I build myself a larger press

I mention this all because for awhile I've wanted something smaller (for small projects) that'll give me a quality bend so I have this arriving tomorrow

    167219533_4041337452593466_4371806352553474828_n.jpg

It'll be perfect for the projects I've done this year without one, as well as these stiffeners, while handling some mounts I need to knock out next month.

Have to thank my supporters (both local and on the forum) for allowing this to happen :fistbump:

Once it's set up, hoping to start running those bent pieces first thing Sunday.

    That's really cool.

Think those rings would just work if the bolt I use is long enough like you said.

I was going to utilize the same length bolts that 4WP suggested using and getting feedback regarding how much thread length is left on them. Not only would this answer the D ring alternative you posed here, but also the middle, "rounded edge" plate @MagicToolbox is making that'll sandwich between the outer bracket and the truck bed itself

I have boxes, and it fits SO FAR but that's with the 16 gauge mock up set.

Once I finalize fitment, and bend a 3/16" part, I'll confirm the total height to see if it works in the medium flat rate box.

Did you ever get someone to make you that milled part? Wasn’t that for a bottom die? I could do it for you if you still need it
