I dunno ive carried both. Sig p220 is an accurate pistol. Only downside is low capacity. And its full size.

XD has features i like. Chambered indicator and firing pin cocked indicator, take down similar to sig, glock like trigger safety. Has extended mags for the subcompact.

In my experience, hammer fired guns have the better triggers. Hammer fired can come in single action only, or double/single action. Striker fired is always going to be single action.

I carry a Shield 9mm and recently bought an M&P 2.0. It’s basically the same gun but full size and I like it a lot.
S&W has a rebate going on til mid August as well. I got $75 back.

Don’t not know much about Walthers but I don’t know why anyone would want a double action pull in a striker fired gun.

It's actually both... DA and then SA.
Seemed like a great idea at the time. Turned out it wasn't. Held onto it (in its very nice case) for over 20 years. It was an expensive mistake on my part.

Lipsey apparently agreed to donate $25 to the second amendment foundation for all sales of Sig Sauer P365. Don't know whether 40 cal is part of their line. Thought I'd mention that.

I can’t speak to the 40 as I’ve never even shot one. I have both hammer fired and striker fired in 9 and like the trigger a little better in the hammer fired, but, that’s also 2 different brands Glock and S&W so there’s that. As far as optic I don’t have experience with many but really like the EFLX large window, clear glass, and even with an astigmatism I can focus on the dot pretty well you are welcome to look through it anytime. If you’re wanting for shtf I’d personally be looking at a full frame and it’d be nice if it could share mags with one you already have if possible. Common ammo and mags etc.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Sig p226 or 229 9mm, with ammunition nowadays the gap between 9 and 40 is silly imo, usually get more capacity and 9 is a bit cheaper I think still

Hopefully so! We’ve been beefing up our preps and becoming more self reliant.

I’ve got a VP40 that’s been outstanding. Best striker fired ergos on the market imo. Don’t own any Sigs chambered in .40SW, so I can’t comment on those.

Some striker-fired models are good at shooting your ass off. Seriously, there was a slew of accidental self inflicted shots from a cop model (I believe Sig), that turned me off from striker-fired. These were holstered guns too, not operator error.

Personally I prefer the hammer style where you can chamber and de-cock the hammer, but still fore it double action when needed.

And then put me down for another "why 40? Isn't that just a weak 10 mm?"

Of course, it sounds like you don't really need another gun, it's more of a want, so get what you want, lol.

Long time user of HK USP 40C. Super reliable. Long first trigger pull. Reduced trigger weight springs made a big difference.
