I’ve been considering leveling my truck with 5100’s and may decide against it.

At notch 3 on 5100’s it raises the front 1.1”. Which with an empty bed, levels the truck.

Testing yesterday, 400# at the very back of my bed lowers the tailgate 1.75” at the bumper.

Just a heads up for anyone that was wondering how weight impacts the ride height!

There's a reason trucks are set up with the rear suspension higher from the factory...

I’m aware of the reason. Hence the post.

Good info, and also why I've never understood leveling kits on trucks. You just end up with a truck that looks front-high all the time (ugly), and the worst sin you can do to a truck, "squatted" when loaded with any weight in the back, which as you've shown, doesn't take much in a Tacoma. When I see leveled trucks, particularly with wide wheels with huge negative offsets and tires sticking out past the fenders, I just assume it's a high schooler driving the truck that lives for the 'gram, and has no concern for function > form (skinny tires are more useful in nearly every situation for a truck than their wider counterparts). I also guarantee 99% of people with leveled trucks never adjust their headlights to compensate, which is magnified stupidity when hauling weight in the back as your headlights point towards the sky.

I used to love "stanced" cars back in high school, slammed to the ground with stretched tires and wheels flush with the fenders, so that was my form > function phase. Can't imagine owning one now.

I leveled my 2nd gen on the second clip.
Later raised the rear 1" with blocks.
It looked way better, and I used it to haul my Kubota B21 for 2 months while my F250 was getting a new engine.

Does anyone have a good source for a half inch block with U-Bolts for the rear?

I think there is a Toyota Part number for this but I can’t find it.

I cannot say for a fact but I bet stock ubolts can handle an extra 1/2" block in there.
I recall a significant amount of tail thread hanging down from the clamshell bracket. Measure yours.
The hangdown thread lengths are why people get flip ubolt kits.

Ubolts should have to need a rubber mallet to pound down or up into final position tight around the axle, regardless of whether brand new or reused.
If not, toss them or return and get a different brand that fits over axle, exact to slightly tight.

Finished my DIY Trail Edition Lift today. Added 5100’s to the front at 1.1” and added a Toyota .5” block in the rear. Before and After pictures.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).

FWIW as mine is a 2nd gen: None: w/60 lbs x 6 of sand tubes for 360 lbs total in the bed during winter. It takes a full bed of wet snow to level it with the sand, but it's still not loading the lower leaf. Empty, it sits just -slightly- higher than level, and the bottom leaf is of course, unloaded. (4-leaf stock rear suspension)

Not sure what it would take for the lower leaf to join the team, but I'm thinking 1 or 2 more bags/420 lbs. FWIW: it rides much nicer loaded with sand and snow.
