Hi Guys! I just installed a new tonneau bed cover on my Tacoma! I love it a lot, but I do have some slight leaking in the front of the bed. Some brands like Bak bed covers offer a drain tube and stuff like that, I was wondering if there was a way I could get some help finding something similar. Attached is a photo of the area that water comes in, I used a flashlight to highlight the area.

    Thank you!

It's been a year now and I don't remember what brand I have . It's a hard trifold cover that was affordable off of real truck.com. like Gator or something...?

Anyway, that sucker leaked hard for the first couple - three months. I had to constantly tweak the rail tightening and play with how it sits against the front of the bed. I ended up using some clear fuel line/ hose from Lowe's. And running that off the holes and the rail to the drain holes in the front of the bed. That helped a lot with that particular leak.

What? I ended up doing all the way around. Was pulling it into the garage, closing the garage door, putting flood lights on above the cover and any garage light I could flip on. On. And then crawled inside the bed, close the tailgate and dropped the cover down closed. Closed. That way I'm laying inside. It completely sealed up. And then I looked for lights. If the light can shine through, the water can get through and that's a good place to start looking for big leaks as any.

    You'll find them! Good luck

I have factory hard cover, not completely water tight but is adequate. I think most covers may seep some water. It’s a truck bed and not a trunk. I’ve just learned to live with it.

If all you have is a “slight leak” I’d leave it, these covers are not water tight, and neither are the beds.
My local truck outfitter has document stating this, that must be signed before they’ll order, sell, or install one.

There are approximately 50 million tonneau covers that have been sold to date.

    ALL 50 MILLION HAVE LEAKED.

Move along, nothing else to see here.

This guy tells nothing but the truth haha. I’ve had my Toyota soft trifold for 3yrs and it’s leaked since day one. Adjusted a million time and still does.

Not true over the years I have had the Xtang Trifecta soft cover installed on my Tacomas 2004,2008, 2021 and never had issues with leaks even after going through a car wash. Never had a hard cover so not sure if they would leak.
