Hello all, currently looking at a TRD OR 2023. I was able to take a couple of quick pictures underneath the car and wanted to know if this type of rust is acceptable? To me, it appears very minor and not something to be concerned with. Also, where should I look for any 'damaging' rust areas?

This is a bit out of my league and will be my first Tacoma purchase.

    Thank you in advance.

that is rust free basically, the exhaust pipe doesn't count in the rust equation unless its overly bad
If you do buy it, do thoroughly wash undercarriage and apply ether a lanolin oil based (Fluid Film, Wool Wax, ext) or wax based (Cosmoline, CRC, ext) to the undercarriage
DO NOT use rubber or tar based coating, they trap water and accelerate rust

    My thoughts on rust...
I think rust is bad, it can ruin stuff but it can also make things look vintage but so can wood and wood doesn't rust, what kind of magic is that?

New trucks in my area would have more rust than that!

Just make sure there's no oil or fluid leaks in/around engine, transmission, transfer case and the A/C blows cold.

Also good to check that the truck can get into and out of 4x4 high and low range just fine

Although since it's 2023 it's basically brand new

If it bothers you high heat black spray paint will make it look new and keep that rust down.
Quick scrub with red 3M pad and spray. Use cardboard piece to avoid overspray on body and other parts.
Most mufflers leak some water as condensation so rust like that.

When testing the 4wd ops remember that an off road has a rear e-locker that only functions when in 4 Lo and after depressing the locker button you may to put in gear and do a slow steering wheel turn wag (left to right) to get it to align and lock in. And to get into 4 Lo put in Neutral while stopped (4 Hi is shift on fly).
