A week into ownership I'm kind of chuckling at myself. In my day job I do and manage complex stuff. I read instructions and learn new stuff constantly.

I've figure out much with the menus but am laughing at self for still not getting the right combo to bypass the safety stuff when bike rack is on back - the brakes slamming on. For today's work I better find out the lack of simple reset trip odometer.

Otherwise I have to say the vehicle is growing on us. It might be full of menu bother but is otherwise a wonderful upgrade in the context of having and knowing past generations of Toyota 4x4s.

The owner manual has a mighty small index for the overall size. I got an extra smile from how strong the index is with our German make vehicle. The Germans seem to assume more people read the book and will watch oil temp when you drive LOL. They also gave us the instant bypass switch for the safety systems.

    :)

What it reports and does is not too different from our modern turbo AWD VW a few years older. What I really like with VW is the instant bypass switch for all the camera and radar safety stuff.

I read long press of left side panel turns off that slam on the brakes when you back up with a bike rack but it did not. I'll pursue it again later. I recall a trip menu in center screen too. I'll look if there's a simple reset there.

And yet today? What is the deal? Multiple failures across multiple efforts.
Did we run out of Rockwell calculators? Or did we get bogged down with the HP-41C?

think my grandfathers desk drawer there is an HP-41C, though I should see if "Bertha" in still in the office. the biggest slowest pile computer I've ever seen had some old drawings from when they first started to use computers at his business, and every so often he would have to fire that thing up. and run some programming then let it just run, come back the next morning and see if it was done working.

My annoying issue with how the pickup handles having a hitch bike rack is solved/known and I gave input to Toyota. I was surprised to get a call back and the guy said my input will go to their weekly meeting with product or engineering.

Disabling the Parking Brake Support will stop the brakes from slamming on but not the alarm, nor fast easy way to return to normal like other vehicles. Our VW has a button to instantly disable that's far superior.

I still find no simple trip odometer reset button as extremely annoying.
