That's correct. I went about my own way of lowering my truck.

I know what that ride feels like. Stiff back and a bobble head. Lol

Yeah the stock ride quality will be welcomed back. Not to mention the truck is pretty much useless for truck stuff in its current state. Should be much more functional in the end

I feel like mine rides quite well, with how I managed the suspension. However, I don't track day it any longer.... It definitely feels better than the SOS version of a drop kit. There's is the quickest and easiest to get the job done. Which makes sense. There could be better versions available, but that just means extra coin.

Well since this is his build thread, and he isn't planning on lowering his any more, then sharing that here would be against the flow. Within the Lowered B.S. thread, as well as in my build thread that can all be found. I also used key words to help interwebz perusers to find that documentation.

Build update, SOS lowering kit is no more. Also installed my pelfreybilt bumper, some baja designs fogs with h11 adapters, and the PIAA 520s also went back on the bumper. Alignment cams are seized up, but I ordered some of those. To my surprise, it drives pretty good the way it is. I will get the alignment tool out and see how caster and camber look, and if they check out, I will adjust the toe to straighten the steering wheel and dial that in and call it a day

Nice to catch up on your thread and build.

Truck looks great, I have to admit, when I think of both your trucks I'm a little jealous of all the knobs you can play with

I changed out the SC idler bearings and installed those upgraded studs you had made for us a week or so ago but no pics.

went with Timkens for the bearings again. I was thinking about upgrading to those ones from SCOL but the bearings were less than $100 shipped to replace all five so that’s the route I went.

I stripped down the roof tracks, removed the brake light, and dropped the camper off at the body shop about a week ago. They removed the windows and painted everything to match. Picked it up yesterday and got the Thule tracks and new brake light reinstalled. Everything turned out really nice.

I also ordered some aluminum steps to replace the heavy steel sliders. I call them steps but they are more slider than step. Greenlane offroad makes them. Fully tig welded and nice quality, made in Canada. I have a pair on the 4Runner, and can’t wait for those to come in

Bought an RV back at the end of July and I’ve towed it about 1500 miles since then. The truck has done well and hasn’t complained. I did install a RedArc brake controller. I put the adjustment knob in front of the shifters so it’s easy to grab if needed on the hwy as it is also the manual override.

Recently on the way back from west Texas the stock sc belt tensioner exited the chat. Not entirely surprising, as the ones made in Canada are notorious for having a bad casting. I had to downshift a little more, but the truck dragged the trailer along just fine without the blower belt. I was taking it easy, so I really only noticed a big difference on the grades. Where it usually would hold 4th, I was downshifting to 3rd

I replaced it with a Gates 38274 after I tried ordering a reinforced Steeda, but hearing that was discontinued. This Gates one was recommend by a member in the SC thread and fit perfect. It has a lifetime warranty so maybe I can get it replaced if it fails as well. I am planning another trip soon, so I wanted to have a replacement so I could keep the Roush as my road trip spare. The new one is made in Mexico, and is a noticeably different casting, so we will see how this one fairs.

I also reinstalled the Xrunner rear sway bar with some longer links I bought from SOS performance. Feels a little better when the trailer is hooked up. The biggest difference I noticed was when going over big bumps or bridges on the hwy, everything feels a little more tied together.

Hopefully Gates made it better, and it never breaks.

I’ve been working on a few things lately on the truck. Started out by replacing the Stage 2+ SPEC clutch with a stock Aisin disc and stiffer M-Pact pressure plate. The SPEC clutch disc looked fine when I pulled it out, but there was an awful rattle coming from the bell housing. The replacement clutch disc seemed to fix that issue, so that was a small victory. It took 6.5 hours for the full clutch job. Last time it took me about 8hrs.

After that my Gates RPM SC belt became unhappy from the truck sitting around, and it started making a bunch of noise. That was replaced with a standard gates sc belt.

A few months back I added the x-runner rear sway bar to the truck with the SOS mounting brackets & links. That went well but the spare tire wouldn’t fit down there due to one of the bolts being too long. I cut that off with the death wheel and flipped it around and the spare is now back under the bed.

Lastly I started working on some DIY rock tamer style mud flaps for when I tow my trailer. I used all scrap materials I had laying around and four of the old FJ40 mud flaps I had on hand too. I still need to get some hardware, paint it, and clean up the flaps but it came together pretty easily and was very cheap.

Here’s a few photos from my trip to Glenwood Springs in October. This was my first trip in the Rockies with the trailer. I drove I-70 from Denver west and the truck did great. I stayed at Ami’s acres in Glenwood Springs, and the views of the valley were unbeatable, but I-70 was a little loud. I will probably try somewhere a little quieter next time.
