Good stuff, nice purchase. I battled with a choice eventually settling on the BAkFlip MX4. My previous cover was a soft tri fold had it for almost 10 years held up decent on my 2013 . For my 2022, I wanted a hard cover and wanted it to sit as flush/inside as possible with the bedrails, rather then on top of them. The BAkflip is a decent cover was super easy to install yourself.

    Enjoy ur purchase, looks good.

I have a lomax I bought it for my 21 short bed double cab or crew cab whatever the correct ID is (4 doors 4 door handles) and no issues installed it in the winter during a cold spell inside a DIY carwash. Didn’t take long at all.
I wanted a few more options on the truck (TRD off road) got a 2022 off road new and just swapped it over. I drove to Arkansas this spring through crazy storms hail, tornados (missed those by minutes) and it didn’t dent or anything nor did the truck. I had to pull under an overpass during one hell session along with about 30 others. No room so I just went past the guard rail and in the ditch all was good. I could see how overtime the rubber might fail but I park outside and it handles the extremes (MN) weather. I had precious cargo on the trip and nothing got wet. You can adjust the rails lower for a tighter seal on the sides and back.
I haven’t tried walking on it but my niece did all 50lbs no issues.
I literally pull it off and or reinstall it in 15-30 seconds. Very lightweight I can jump off the bed holding it folded up.

+1 - what he said - I got my truck used and it came with lomax and I love it.
Except I don't jump off the bed even if I am not holding anything - bad knees, so . . . .

Thanks for this info. First I'd heard of it. This had been on my short list for a long time. Lomax for me.

It does look nice and I kept it but the bakflip rails did not factor in the raised edges on the side of the oem tailgate caps so it cannot sit flush. This in turn causes the tonneau rails to angle downward by a few degrees causing the rubbing of the tailgate cap. You can put shims but it will still rub.

Yeah I’m not the brightest bulb but I have the mt bike build that helps and I don’t carry much extra weight. But yes not advised just a bad habit but also shows how lightweight it is. I think the Sales guy said it can handle 150lb or 300lb but don’t quote me on that I personally wouldn’t test over 100lb. Make sure you put the rubber seals in very well at the front of the bed where the seam is in the body i might even get some the 3m red double sided tape (Home Depot etc has it) and put it on the the rubber seals for extra hold and pressure. I don’t have a leak issue but given I installed them in the cold I dont trust adhesive in cold.

just curious anyone recommend a budget behind the lower grille led light bar for 2022? That’s not going to have permanent drilling/modification so I could take it out and swap it over if i switch. I found one on Amazon Diode dynamics it’s around 500 I won’t use it much so something under 500? I will post in proper area about this but figured I’d throw it out there. But hands down would buy the low max over and over. It wasn’t cheap I think it was around $800-$1000 after discount etc

Hey MGMDT, I'm in AZ (PHX) as well and I got the BAK X4s Revolver on my 2018 when I first bought the truck. It delaminated from our heat here and they were great and provided a new one via warranty claim two years ago, but it has delaminated again only after two years. See attached pic. The sun is brutal to the leather cover. I don't know why they don't add an additional 2" and wrap it to the underside.

I was thinking about the Peragon https://www.peragon.com/shop/covers/Toyota/Tacoma as it gives full rear view from the back window, allows full bed access, and can easily removed.

I know that you recommend the Lomax, but I really love the fact that the X4 gave me almost my full bed to utilize. It looks like the Lomax takes up a little bit more space.

So I'm curious if you got the Lomax and how it is doing with the heat and sun punishment? If not, what did you end up getting and are you satisfied? Thanks and stay cool in this miserable heat.

I'm still using the x4s. I've been considering getting a shell for the extra space though.

Yeah, and taking on and off for hauling dirt bikes would be easier. Which soft cover do you have?
