Anyone in LA Area w/ Gen 4 Willing to Meet up for Rear Seat Delete Measurements?

Hey there.

I own a Gen 3 Double Cab and have designed a rear seat delete for it, which i have been selling to fellow forum users. (Please see link in signature).

I am trying to dial in measurements for a seat delete design for a Gen 4. I have a preliminary design but will need to adjust it based on the measurements of the Gen 4.

My friend and I have a wood shop in the vernon/ boyle heights area.

I am looking for someone with a gen 4 that wouldn't mind meeting me at the shop.

Will need to remove the back seats, which takes about 10 minutes and then take measurements,
whip up a 3d model and cut with our cnc router, quick assemble and slide the prototype seat delete in and see how it fits, take some measurements for changes, and then reinstall your rear seats.

Willing to give a case of beer of your choice for your trouble. Feel free to hang out if you want. Will also give you a final version of the rear seat delete for free as well.

Should take about 4-5 hours.

Hopefully there's someone out there with a gen 4 that wouldn't mind lending a hand.

A friend has a cnc router...i could run your 3rd gen cut pattern and send photos with necessary adjustments but I doubt that's what you're looking for.
Hopefully you find a local 4th gen soon.

Looks like I’ll be getting access to a 4th gen double cab in mid July to build a prototype of a rear seat delete. I’m hoping to go to market by the end of July.

I got my hands on a 4x2 Gen 4 Tacoma. I didn’t want to like it but I do. The interior is pretty intense. Most noticeably, the rear seat offers a number of complications to contend with when designing a rear seat delete compared to a Gen 3. Thankfully we got it sorted and were able to finalize a design in a few hours.

NOTE: It appears the under seat storage has different details from model to model but the overall footprint is the same.

it most likely fits a hybrid. Can you send me a pic of the area under your rear seats so that I can confirm?

rough dimensions: 53-ish inches wide x 28ish inches deep x 12ish inches tall

Strange under the back seats look different then mine

 

send me a photo of yours please. is your truck a 4x4? the one i rented was a 4x2

 

it's prob the same size but it has a plastic liner if you look close in the bottom left there a little truck as an Easter egg. Also Canadian models sometimes are slightly diffrent. No 2wd available in Canada since 18.

 

yeah im wondering if this difference is due to 4x2 vs 4x4 or us vs canada models. im gonna swing by a dealership today and do some investigation but i am assuming the footprints are the same. that little easter egg is fun.

 

I went to a dealership this afternoon and compared the rear seat storage compartments of a 4th gen 4x2 double cab and a 4th gen 4x4 double cab. As the photos above show, they do have different plastic inserts but the foot prints are the same. It’s good news for me as this means the rear seat delete I designed will fit both.

 

have you considered doing a modular 40/60/100% delete? I keep my dog's kennel on top of the double seats but would love a delete option that keeps the single seat, or vice versa.

We have considered a 60/40. The thing is it will be more expensive to produce compared to a 100%. Shipping would cost more too AND we would have to sell it as a 60+40 package. We wouldn’t be able to only sell a 60 or only a 40.

as a consumer would this be something you would still be interested in?

if so, then maybe it’s something we can discuss further.

Perfect. That looks really nice. And I think your pricing is reasonable. I'm not in the market yet, but as a consumer some things that might interest me: the 60+40 split, carpet/rubber/corrugated steel covering on top or sides, back wall covering/molle/padding (for dogs).
