What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

First weekend with my new-to-me 23. Installed:

- Meso interior LEDs
- Desert Does it Seat Jackers
- Meso Minimal Key Fob v2
- AJT Oversized Cup Holder
- Lasfit floor mats, front and back

 

Changed the power steering fluid. Noticed the Toyota OEM fill is a bit more viscous than the Dex/Merc. Did a flush with return hose going into a clear bottle, wheels off the ground and just going lock and back to center. Probably overkill but ended up using just over half the DexMerc gallon.

 

Swapped back to the OEM TRD-off road wheels, with BFG AT KO2 265/75/16/E tires. Just found I didn't need the mud tires in a hot, dry summer.

Will go back to the TRD Beadlocks and Toyo MT 255/85/16 for hunting season.
So far: appreciating the quieter ride; we'll see how the fuel consumption changes.
Washed both mine and my wife's....in the +41C heat.

Drivers Side Grab Handle.
Took about 20 minutes.
Didn't use the riviet nut, used on of these squeezed so it wouldn't move.
Bought a longer bolt for the bottom.

That Fan tho? How much air does it have to move just to break even on how much it obstructs in the middle? Almost looks like it would be less efficient than not having it at all.

 

This is how I did it. Added two taps for the Dash Cam and one for the Ham Dario - Only issue is that my big ass feet keep rubbing the fuse panel getting in and out and I keep ripping it apart.
Got a replacement cover from Meso Customs on order.

Funny thing is that everyone was bitching about those when she first started selling those grab handles, that's why she switched to the Rivnuts.

I never understood why people bitched about them, they are simple as hell to use.

 

Used a 10mm on a screwdriver, you just have to keep parallel to the windshield.
Don't use the angle of the hole in the handle.

If you bought a used truck, let this be a reminder to never assume the last person to do work on the truck did it right.

I have a front LED light bar and some back up lights that were put in with ugly toggle switches. I got a 3D printed (thanks @ITmaD) left switch panel to add CaliRaised OEM style switches. Since I DON'T trust that it was done right, I checked the current draw through the switch - 6.75 amps for the front and 4.75 in the rear measured with my clamp on meter. The CaliRaised switches claim 3 amps max, so I need to rewire.

Now I need to go get relays.

I love my truck, and I would not have been able to afford it new. Just be sure to verify any mods if you didn't do them or pay to have them done properly.

 

How many miles did you have on your truck when you changed the fluids?

 

Rather than sitting around bitching about something I decided to install my Fitcam. I bought the front & rear camera version. The ONLY thing I would have done differently would be to place the rear camera about 1/4" higher in the back window.

I followed the directions and the ONLY part, to me, that was difficult was trying to get my Samsung phone/WiFi stuff worked out because it wanted to use my internet and I did not want to give it access (made in China) to my router. But I worked through it.

I drove it. It's been 6 weeks since I had spine surgery and the need to buy groceries combined with more mobility/less pain than a few weeks ago made the time right. It felt good to get out on the road
