    Hello all,

Looking to wire up a dimmer switch to my fog lights so I can control the brightness of them in certain situations. Anyone have experience with this? I was thinking of ordering another part 486-3A85 and modifying that to be the dimmer switch since it would already fit nicely in the open panel spaces.

need to be careful with bulb amperage. i don't know what the stock dimmer can handle, but it's likely far to low powered to work long term

This sounds like a great way to introduce electrical gremlins into your truck
I don't know what part number that is but I'm going to guess that it is the dash dimmer rheostat, not going to do anything to help you.
You need to modify the high power that goes to the lamps not the control voltage that activates the relay.
The three options would be PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), remote controlled rheostat, A/B load switch and it needs to be mounted in the engine bay, post the Fog Relay output
I you have LEDs, depending on their internal driving circlet they may not be dimmable at all.
