Hi all! I've been lurking on this forum for months and finally went for it the weekend before last and bought a new tacoma. We bought it because we wanted a second vehicle but also wanted to get something more accommodating for our camping weekends. I had played test driven a few 3rd gen tacomas with camping rigs off of Facebook marketplace, but ultimately landed on getting a 2024, because I value the interior upgrade and the power delivery feels way better than the four 3rd gen's I drove.

This last weekend I took it on a two night camping trip. Ordered a Gladiator cargo net to strap all of our gear down, because I didn't have anything else to cover the bed. That worked great and even provided some rain protection. My notes:

    1. I lived in Denver proper, but did about 400 miles round trip, bringing total mileage to 486.
    2. While in the city, I was doing about ~15.5mpg. After the trip, I'm up to ~20.2mpg.
    3. The truck has some real torque to it. It feels powerful and I don't feel at all upset about the 4cyl. I'm sure I'll have issues with the turbo in ~80k miles, but I've accepted that maintenance fate.
    4. It was a ~4 hour drive each way. Two people in the front seat, one in the back. Myself and the other front seat passenger were comfortable the entire trip - no complaints. Back seat female (5'7) didn't love it - largely because there was no center arm rest and the seats were vertical (rather than a slight lean). This was to be expected. It's not a passenger vehicle.
    5. I did an interior detail when I got back, because the cab was full of dirt and dust after being offroad for two days. The interior was very easy to clean. My suggestion: get a swiffer duster, it does wonders.

The plan is to order an Oru Designs Bruin camper for it. Will continue posting as I get deeper into the build.
