Bumper swingout alignment

Any ideas if I can improve the alignment of the swingout? I have a spare mounted but no cans right now.

Is that new? Did you notice it before you mounted the tire, or did you tweak it on something? It looks as if the hinge plates are off-center or it’s bent.

If it is new and still under warranty, and if you didn’t cause it, I’d return it on their dime - that’s an unacceptable manufacturer defect. Review your guarantee and warranty before calling them.

 

Thank you for your input! I dont want to go that route, thats the second bumper ( first one was defective for other reasons), and its been 7 months of waiting. I'm glad I have something at this point. I might cut and reweld the arm or just live with it. The owner hand delivered it and helped me install it at my house. He said its normal and even if he got me another one it'd be the same.

 

No excuse for it to sag this much, but unfortunately with swingouts like these, they sort of develop some sag over time that is unavoidable.

 

Its been like this since day one. I might cut off the weld at the hinge, latch it with 0.125 shim under it and tack it. Then pull it off and finish welding.

 

Can you lift it manually to get it to line up with the latch? Just wondering how much play there is in that hinge. Is it possible the hinge pin bolt is just too small in diameter compared with the holes they drilled? Also, does the pin sit in a tube or is it just set in holes they drilled in the top and bottom plates?

 

Yes I can, but it gets a little annoying when I open/close it a few times in a day. Also my gf struggles to do it. The hinge is a 3/4 bolt with bearings top and bottom

 

So you can lift the swing arm up enough for the hasp to engage? Where is that play coming from? My Rig’d swingout has no play, even when it’s fully open. If I try to lift it, the truck moves and there’s no movement of the swingout. Something may be loose, is it wise to cut and re-weld it if it’s still moving like that? I wonder if one of the bearing races is tweaked, or if they’re just not a tight fit.
