Dumb question: How difficult is it to actually build your own AR? And, where did you order your components from? One source?

 

Its basically an adult jigsaw puzzle

 

It's not hard as long as you have the right tools. At a minimum, you'll need a good punch set, torque wrench, vise and a block for the upper and lower receivers, and last but not least, a good armorer's wrench. Real Avid and Magpul are great options but you can get by with the Wheelers less money. There are other convenience tools that you can get, like a front pivot pin tool but they are not mandatory. Watch a few how-to videos on YouTube before you take the plunge so you get a sense of whether or not you feel comfortable doing it.

For my AR22 build, I purchased the upper receiver, handguard and charging handle directly from Aero Precision. I purchased the lower receiver, buffer tube and lower parts build kit from Primary Arms. The bolt group, barrel, and reliability kit were purchased from BoreBuddy. The trigger group came from another AR that I ended up installing a Rave 140 drop in trigger in. Overall, I am very pleased with how it all came out. Shopping around and taking advantage of 4th of July sales really helped keep the cost down. If you want to build a good AR22 on a budget, get the bolt group and barrel from BoreBuddy and then go with PSA for everything else.

 

Actually, i ordered the RISIII version with MLOK, already have a quad rail on another build.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

All jokes aside, that RISIII is a bad bitch.

 

I couldn't decide i went with the quad but might do another build with the mlock

 

And now I have a couple of good nicknames for it, Bad Bitch and Day Ruiner

 

Everyone needs a quad in their life.

It all comes together finally. Just needs a good optic setup (red dot is just for now) and a Polo K.

 

Just flipped mine to the same color scheme the other day.
