Opinons: Color match or contrast for new shell

Hi, supposed to pick up my new OR this week. I have to get a new shell for it and am trying to decide between a color matched one or black. Truck is Bronze Oxide. Any opinions? Anybody know of any free 3d modeling software that could model a truck and shell?

 

I think it would look a bit "off" to go with black.

The bronze is a great color I personally would color match it.

 

99% will color match their cap...but they rarely match well, IMO. I put a used black cap on my '19 MGM and it looks better than most of the "matched" MGM caps I've seen. I could see bronze oxide being hard to match as well. The alternative would be to get a black Smart Cap but its probably not available for 4th gen.

 

Smart Cap is supposed to start shipping in September (originally was July, then August,...). Was thinking about one but they mention as much as a 6 month wait for the more popular vehicles (Jeep and Tacoma specifically). Also, the gull wings don't really fit with the way I plan to use it so I'm looking at ARE. They do have a black texture finish that looks pretty good, but I bet it collects dirt like mad.

Thanks for your opinions, everyone. Will probably go with color matched but I may try to do a mockup first.

I think a Black one would look good with White or Silver and Maybe Underground but might look off with Bronze Oxide?

 

I'd go with black if you're combining it with that color. The black accents will help blend the look and the topper will probably be much cheaper.

 

I would say color matched. I think anything else would look weird with that color.

This is coming from a guy with a color matched shell that happens to be black.

 

RSI's video for the 4th gen Tacoma is Bronze Oxide and the black SmartCap looks great (IMO).

Color match if fiberglass shell … if u decide on getting black I would go with the smart cap .

 

I may see if the dealer can find out what the expected lead time for a smartcap is. Saw one on a gen3 this morning with a removable tent on top and it looked good.
