I don't have tire warmers or a generator to plug them in to so that seems like a more expensive option for now. I'm looking at ~$400 before tax for the set of Pirellis so it's not obscenely expensive for my bike.

As long as they're not cracked or dry rotted I think you'd be fine! I'm still on my stock street tires. I'd just monitor tire pressures and make sure they're not melting like mine. This is a good resource (I think) to see what's happening to your tires:

Any of you guys tried the new Tusk Waypoint Adventures? I found a set of 300l wheels for $300. I'm considering them as an extra set.

I've got the D sports on mine. I like them. From what I gather, the D sports are 80/20 and the Waypoints are 70/30.

Tusk recons suck donkey dick. But maybe I've become a tire snob. I'd rather have good rubber and not hit the ground

Whoo! I think you'll be just fine on the Power 5 if it's your first time back in a long while

In other news maybe you guys can help me figure out what’s going on with my front tire. Looks like cupping but tbh I’m very unfamiliar with uneven tire wear. Never really had an issue with it before. the center ridge is definitely a bit raised compared to the sides, but the overall profile of the tire is still round around the center ridge.

Friend of mine says this is normal for a tire that has been to the track, but wanted to get your guys' opinions. This tire was put on back in October last year, did a 2 day track weekend, then commuted on since then.

Thanks I'm excited! Yeah it's been a while so I signed up for the intro class too, figure some instruction couldn't hurt. Tires are in nice shape, front has a little over 2k miles on it and putting on a new rear next week.

Cupping makes sense under heavy front braking at a track. It basically loads the tire, skips a bit, loads again, skips a bit and you end up with that kind of ridging over time. I've seen it a lot on soft compounded ADV tires when they primarily use their front brakes since those bikes can be so heavy.

Definitely can be exacerbated with wrong tire pressures or poor suspension bouncing around.

First mod done! Not much but I got this from @FreshOldTaco off his old bolt! So the bike looks cleaner to me! I do plan to get the brake light that goes in the spot where the plastic fender went to have a bit brighter tail light because yes lol

I used to get this on my front pilot powers. Didn't matter if they were take offs or all street, the (boring) commuting did it.
