I just got the ott tune and i have to really stomp the gas before i can reach 6th, engine revs to almost 6000rpms. Is that normal?

Your describing a driver input that will literally prolong the upshift. Sounds like everything is working as it should with the VERY limited information you've presented here.

Remember, your pedal input is essentially a torque request to the ECU. Depressing the pedal further does a number of things but you're essentially telling the ECU you are requesting more torque (relative to less pedal input). The calibration is configured in such a way to take that torque request (pedal input) along with your current output shaft speed, and use a set of look-up tables to determine the appropriate gear to be in. It's a really simple 2D model that determines shift scheduling.

I'd encourage you and anyone else curious to read my post here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-overland-tailor.759590/page-82#post-29936170

While unrelated to your specific 'situation' you might find some perspective into what's actually happening and why.

I have the Yotawerks Blackhalk 2.0 tune, which I would say is very similar to the OTT tune. Mine shifts fine into 6th and I would have to say what you are describing is not normal. I would contact your tuner and let him know what is going on. May have to reflash it.

No, walked me through it. I was sitting to heavy on the throttle in fifth, when I eased into the gas it shifted without issue

This still don’t sound normal to me, but I have a different tune. Maybe this is normal for OTT. Be interested in what others have to say that have OTT tunes.:notsure:

It’s an average, not an instant readout. Still an inefficient fuel economy Tacoma with no power.

Yeah, it don’t get 35 mpg like a Ford Focus I traded in for the truck, but I’m happy with the truck. I get 385 miles out of a tank. Just tested that out driving to the U.P last week. It’s accurate. As for power, has all the power that I need. And it looks sick!IMG_0790.jpg
