Hey another question. i'm in CT. the seller of course wants cash only, as this is a craigslist thing. That's understandable. When you do a title transfer, you just write "AS IS- NO WARRANTIES on the title , and I just add my name, correct? Then get insurance, and go register) I sent him DMV's page on selling a vehicle and it leans toward using their "Bill of Sale " form. He sqwauked about that and said he's not a dealer , and he doesn't want to get sued if something goes wrong down the road . I haven't done plate/reg transfers in a while , the clunkers I sold off in my youth were just done with that AS-IS on the title thing. But I just want to make sure this is legit . CT DMV's website is a bit wonky and convoluted.

I'm not from CT or ever registered a vehicle there but based on what their website says I don't think you're going to be able to transfer the title to your name without a bill of sale.

If you want to know for sure you should be able to go to the DMV to ask a question, here in CO we have a "Q" ticket type for that and that line goes a lot faster than the others.

Already looked at that page. I am just not sure how critical it actually is . Link: https://portal.ct.gov/dmv/vehicle-services/sell-vehicle?language=en_US

You will need a bill of sale, as well as the signed title

You do not need to use the CT one, but you must have one
