To be clear defrost is not selected correct? If its in anything but panel or floor vent it will stay on.

Toyota does use auto humidity sensors but it doesnt look like any Tacoma has it.

I can turn mine off, but there is a little trick to do it. Do not use the system in "Auto". If you notice that the AC is on, even though the green light on the AC button is not lit, push the AC button downward until the green light turn on. Now push the AC button downward again, this will turn the green light and the compressor off. The compressor will stay off until the AC button is pushed again.

What? Microsoft has always added 'features' that don't make sense or work right and never fix the previous shit 'features'.

All software developers do that, including Toyota. Just look at the software “feature” bugs in the 4th gen so far. Is this an alpha test?

    here we go again.
read all my posts in the other thread.
some trucks are experiencing it while others arent, theres 2 different operating programs on identical trucks..
Ive actually went to my dealer & started about 6+ trucks until I was able to show the service manager that one truck was doing it & the other wasnt....

climate control in just vent mode, no defrost, no auto, etc..
if you open the hood, the ac compressor is cycling & engine electric cooling fan is on due to ac compressor cycling.
doesnt matter if you vent temp is dialed to 85 or 60....

Good info. Hopefully they'll figure it out. A constantly running compressor is going to reduce it's life, not to mention lowering the MPGs on an already thirsty vehicle.

That’s my precise point and concern, more wear on the compressor and electric engine cooling fan for those of us that are dealing with this characteristic.
But that will require people experiencing the symptom going into the dealership and complaining, not just me, others…

I think I said this before, but many of us in the south use air conditioning year round.

You keep on saying that, but that is not really how it works. Many of us use the compressor every single day and they still work for a very long time. Absolute worst case, is a compressor failure really that much worse than any other typical failure? It's not that big a deal to have a new one installed.

A compressor failure can internally toss metal debris throughout the entire system requiring replacement of receiver dryer & condenser also, expansion valves, orfice tubes, etc....
So not always as simple as just slamming a compressor on it....
I see it all the time...

That's just for the part. If you get the online discount from the dealer when you drive in. (not likely) Additionally, as a previous poster pointed out, a blown compressor is going to take a lot of other expensive stuff with it.

Ok, there's some validity here. But it's 700 FKING pages -- and has 3 volumes. Did they have Thomas Pynchon write the thing?

I read it, says ac compressor off when ac not on.....
Not sure if ill have the opportunity to talk to the fst about my truck situation...
Im sure am going to try....
The paint will speak for itself so ide like to discuss the ac scenario with him...
Like ive said end of the day it was explained to me like this:
Normal operation to control moisture / humidity in the system.

What i found out on my own & talking to others gathering their rnning characteristic of their system, some are doing it while others arent....

I feel theres 2 different ac module programs...
some programmed to run old school like were all use to...
other system vents may blow cold even when not in ac on mode, & ac compressor & engine cooling fan runs all the time when climate control system is just in VENT mode....
was also told, if i cycle the ac switch, meaning from vent mode, to ac on & then back to vent mode, that fixes it for that drive cycle....
turns the eng fan & ac comp off...

Ive started a bunch on the lot & drug the cars infront of the service managers office & brought him out to personally witness it so I didnt look crazy, as I really felt crazzzzy....
Only then he confessed that theres 2 different programs being run in the ac modules.
I asked my corporate claims rep if the manager & dept could escalate the & get my system programmed to run the other program....
She looked into it, spoke to service, got back to me, told me the pogram cant be changed....
I sure it can be though if they really wanted to, would imagine it can manually get pushed it..
