Has anyone here ever replaced their clock spring and if so what brand part did you use?

Its a pretty easy job Ive done it a few times. I used OEM and the clockspringexperts.com. You can usually find an OEM on sale somewhere.

Sadly OEM is the only choice, there are a few different versions if I recall and you want the right part and it will break early if you buy a cheap one.

I got the part number from a local dealership and found the same part at a different online dealer for about $200 instead of $300

just make sure you disconnect the battery and wait like 30 min before taking apart off the airbag and wheel.

There is a very good YouTube video for the clock spring replacement. I did it on my own and took my time as I was wary of working around the airbag. I suspect it can be done in less than 30 min. if you know what you are doing. I went with OEM for two reasons:
    1. I had replaced blower resistor with Ebay unit, and it lasted only 10 weeks, so I am very wary of Ebay parts
    2. The exact part you need is identified via your vin. There are several variations of the clock spring, so you need to get the right one

The downside to OEM is the cost. It was about $300 for the part via local dealer who matched on-line Toyota parts cost. As the original lasted over 10 years I am hoping the new unit will last as long.

No problem replacing it...I'm very comfortable with that. I just wanted to know what brand part people are going with.
