2021 TRD Offroad 4wd with 39k miles. Bought it used with 30k miles. I have a strange vibration between 45-55 mph. It is pulsating, sort of like the needle bearing noise, except I have already done the ECGS swap on the driver's side. It is a rumbling that can be felt lightly in the steering wheel and pedal, most notably on a straight road. On a whim, put it into 4HI and sound got worse, unlike the needle bearing noise that goes away in 4HI. There is also a weird hum, occasionally, when I turn right at low speeds. I have looked for play in the wheels to investigate hub/bearings, but no play. I don't feel much, if any in cv axles. There is also a center console vibration, which could be something totally unrelated. The truck was lifted 1.75" with Eibach coilovers and 1.5" blocks in rear, with shims, 4 months ago. I had, essentially the same lift on the same truck, only it was a 2018 TRD OR, and zero issues. Out of frustration, I took the lift off because I don't have time to take it on trails and thought maybe that could be contributing to the issue. I put the stock suspension back on, torqued everything to spec, got an alignment, and had wheels and tires road force balanced which made zero impact. Truck is like brand new inside and out, no rust, mud, damage or anything underneath. Noise showed up after lift and after ECGS swap.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Could it possibly be a bearing on the passenger side? I am at a loss here.

Who did the bearing swap? Is the cv axle not seated properly or the bearing perhaps?

Have you rotated the tires to see if changes when they get swapped around?

the only remaining mod on the truck is the bearing..hmm and the noise get worse in 4wd?

I did the bearing swap and used the ECGS tool to seat it. Cv axle seems to be seated well, no leaks or anything.

have not rotated tires yet, but I’ll know soon, as I’m about to do that in another 500 miles.

Having the same issue, 2020 TRD PRO Wescott Designs lift in front and 1in Eibach block in back. Did the ECGS bushing. But it doesn't have the hum or issue with it louder in 4HI. I have tried a carrier bearing drop and even took the block out and still there. Took it to ORW and everything was tight and they couldn't find anything.

Is it between 45-55? Would you mind taking a photo of where your cv axle goes into the diff? I did notice the silver “dust cap” sticks out a little further than the one on the passenger side on mine but if I remember right there was a little gap there when I went to pull it out to do the bearing. I have wondered though, but don’t know anyone well enough around here to look underneath to see if theirs is the same.

Yeah, mine looks exactly the same. The passenger side is flush. Unless we are the unusual ones and maybe it isn’t normal? Thank you for taking the time to do that. Maybe someone else will chime in if theirs looks the same or not before/after the ECGS swap.

Are you still having this issue?
