Will the 16” TPS valvestems work on 4Runner 17” wheels?

Alloy to alloy should be fine. Steel to alloy maybe not.

    None, yet
I’m doing pretty much the same thing and what I have read is that most shops won’t use the sensors off the steel wheels. However the sensors will work if you turn them somehow and you have to mount them with that in mind. Maybe you can find a small shop to mount them. Good luck.

How much does one of your steel wheels weigh?

Sensors transferred fine from steel to alloy wheels. No turning needed

The rubber gasket around the base of the stem will eventually fail and leak in this configuration. You are using 40 degree sensors on a wheel designed for 20 degree sensors (unless you are using the older 5 lug silver 15" steel wheel TPMS sensors because those are 20 degree stem)

I work at a facility where 4000 of them get installed every 24 hours. People think it isn't the stem angle isn't that important but it really is. That is all I can really share on an online forum but it is your truck to do what you want.

Also there is the issue they may not even read. Supplier of TPMS sensors (Pacific likely) may be the same but the part number will be different and possibly not universal reading capabilities going from 4runner to Tacoma.

    42607-02050 OEM if you have/want snap-in type

For clamp-in type which your truck may have:

    42607-04020 (sensor)
    42636-06010 (washer, 1 per sensor)
    42637-06010 (nut, 1 per sensor)

I ordered the Denso T6 sensors from Tire rack, and they fit. https://www.tirerack.com/tpms/detail.jsp?ID=2291
