2012 Tacoma Bluetooth

Just wondering if this is how the Bluetooth operates or if I’m doing something incorrectly. My wife and I share the vehicle. I set up my phone and it connects no problem until my wife uses the truck. I then set up her phone and now it only connects to her phone. In order to get it to connect to my phone again I have to delete my phone off the truck and delete the Bluetooth from my phone and re do the process. But then it won’t connect to my wife’s phone. Anyone else have this issue or know why I may be having the issue? Thank you

 

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just not a great system. What I do when I want to switch phones while I'm driving is turn off bluetooth on the phone that's currently connected, then hold down the volume knob to reboot the head unit. After that all you can do is pray it'll switch over to the other phone in the car.

 

It should auto connect to the last phone it was connect to in range. So if your both saved but your wife's phone is not within distance, then your phone will connect. If her phone was the last connected and then you turn the truck on at the house and her phone is within reach of the signal, then it will probably connect to her phone. Now if both your phones are saved and she's not near the truck and you start it up and it won't connect until you remove hers and set up your again or have to delete yours then set it up again, then I think that may be an issue.

 

do you hold volume up or down? Or does it matter. I didn’t know you could do that

 

it’s a little frustrating. I think I’ll be driving the truck for a while. I have a longer commute to work so she drives it during the week and I use her car. But my son started school where I work so he comes with me then she picks him up. Since we both drive the route I just opted to drive the truck. (Who wouldn’t? lol jk) but yeah now that I’m the primary driver I’ll delete and re set up in hopes that it just auto connects to me from here on out.

 

Not up or down, push the volume knob in and hold if for about 5 seconds. Maybe the 2012 is different but that's how you do it on my 2014.

 

My mistake, I misunderstood. I was thinking volume button not knob. I will try that! Thank you!
