Has anyone lost just their low speed fan? I’ve lived the bad connector failure and a resister failure with previous Tacomas, the connector looks different on this truck. This time I’ve only lost the low speed fan. Before I start ripping into this thing, has anyone ever just lost low? I’m guessing resistor but I haven’t pulled it out yet.

If the design is anything like the others it could easily have issues with the low speed only. This problem likely isn't much different than what you've been through before.

I pulled the connector and it doesn’t have any of the tell tale burn marks. I ordered a new resistor tonight. I’m shocked at what these things cost now. I was used to paying about $22 in the past, now they’re $45-$55. The Chinese ones are $15-$20 on eBay, but they scare me.

Got my new resistor today, installed it and I’ve got low speed back again.

It was weird, I plugged it in, turned on the key, and nothing… no speeds! I turned off the key, checked the connector, and it was fully plugged in. I turned the key back on and everything worked!

Ya think Toyota could have made it just a little bit harder to get to that back screw?

i had same when the brushes were worn out, quick smack and it will work.

You may need a new motor if it keep happening, check motor connector as they can melt too

I’ve had a melted connector on a previous Tacoma so I know what to look for. This connector is fine, and a new connector is included in my kit but I didn’t install it.

Prior to replacing the resistor, I had no issues other than the low speed. This truck only has 46k on it so it’s not like it has a ton of hours on the fan.

These are easy, try doing a 11-16 Ford Super Duty. Gotta pull the dash and HVAC box out to change the blower control module (resistor), pays 8.3 hrs.
