First Long Road Trip with Tacoma

Hi guys I’m leaving for a 14 hour road trip to wisconsin this weekend in my 2017 TRD Sport 4x4. Do you guys have any tips with my truck and any long time road trippers that have any tips. This is my first long road trip. I don’t know if it’s supposed to go on here. Thank you Guys.

 

85 MPH will likely not yield a good MPG, even if you think it will get you there faster. 60-65 may get the best MPG and it was already going to take 14 hours so ...

Radar cruise control is better when the road is empty so the speed is not constantly being adjusted just because the guy in front of you is being stupid.

The most comfortable position for the seat around-town MAY NOT be the best position for butt-resting for many hours at a time.

 

Check all fluids … tire pressure … check spare tire air pressure and any damage u be surprised how many people don’t check the spare prior to long trips . Take your time… gas station breaks to keep circulation in legs . Seat cushion helps . Stay safe and have a great road trip .

 

Although not recommended, I subscribe to the only use the restroom and eat when you refill and power through, trying to make it a contest of efficiency. That said, you bought a Tacoma, checks the standard pre trip stuff, remember your phone charger and take it easy.

 

Not to insult @JacksWT74 or assume, but ... be sure you know HOW TO get to the spare. That wind-down device was new to me. The tire store can verify pressure, but you need to get to it.
