bought the truck with 177000 miles , have not driven 5k and the main drive shaft carrier fell apart. working on the ground and not familiar with these trucks. not sure how the drive shaft comes out of the transmission. I did see some video on marking and removing 14mm nuts but before i screw it up just maybe some kind soul can inform me on the transmission end removal.
does it slip out of the transmission and will oil leak out? I don't have a garage to work in. just looking for some advice .
thanks for any and all help.. I was a technical trainer and have good mechanical skills until i was thrown out during the virus. now living like most on SS. so cost for someone else to do it is not an option

On 2wd trucks the driveshaft yoke should slide out of the transmission, a small bit of transmission fluid may leak out when you pull it so have a catch pan under it.
The rear yoke is bolted to the pinion flange with 4 bolts and nuts.

Take note of how far in the transmission it is so you can reinstall the carrier bearing in the same position.

great info, the tube must be splined, does it have a specific reentry position ?
thanks again, working blind is not fun especially when it's my only transportation.

As far as a specific rotation no but you do want it about the same depth so the seal is riding in the same spot to minimize the chance of leaks.

Now the center yoke does need to go back in the same spot so the driveshaft yokes are all phased correctly so make sure to mark it before you separate it.

I like the "You can do it " can you send him over .. last question for now as I see most of you have extensive knowledge on trucks and parts. The parts i see vary greatly in price. Probably all made in China .. Buying by cost has not worked in the past. Can someone recommend where i should buy the spiders and carrier from, your experience is better than my judgement. I don't want to do this twice. thanks again.happy Friday

It's a Spicer driveshaft so I'd go with Spicer parts if you can get them.
