I bought the 09 Tacoma used from a car dealer with 75,000 miles. Little did I know there was a recall on the frame. The previous owner (had) has the recall letter. The previous owner apparently didnt give the dealership the letter. Dealer never forwarded it to me as I had asked them if there "are any recalls" on this truck? I got no for an answer. Few years later I was under the truck and decided maybe we'll get an undercoat. This is Ct, truck came from N.Y. Went to the undercoater and while it was on the lift the owner points out some frame rot around the control arm. They welded a new piece, hit it with the undercoat. I guess my question is; am I screwed out of a replacement frame? Replaced all brake lines and the frame does'nt look thin anywhere but I still have this feeling when driving down the logging trail that it could snap in half. Anyone?

Unfortunately, I believe you are sol.

Limited warranty enhancement for frame rust was for 12 years from the first day of service.

I wish I had better news.

At this point, you are unfortunately out of luck with getting the frame replaced under the recall. Fluid film the frame inside and out and that will keep the rust from getting worse

The dealer did not lie to you because there wasn't a recall. Frames were replaced as a result of the settlement of a lawsuit. And as has already been stated, there was a 12-year (from first "in service" date) limit, so you're well outside that window. Sorry.

As for undercoating what you have, traditional rubberized undercoat does not stop rut. At best it prevents it from starting.
