Looking for opinions on the state of the auto industry for 2025 and beyond.

Currently sales seem to be down across the board, I say it's economics. EV will become more popular, trucks are becoming less popular, $70k is a lot to drop on a pick up you don't need. Will China take over the EV segment? Will Toyota introduce another ICE for their GAF trucks with in the next ten years?

I was looking at trucks over the weekend with no intentions to buy anything. Found a 2500 Silverado 4x4 6.6 gas 10 spd, LT or Base it had halogen headlights. It was a long bed extended cab, Z71, Alaskan plow prep, black painted bumper and trim pkg and black exterior paint. Listed for a little over $51k

High prices and interest rates are going to keep sales down lMHO.

Emissions, parts availably, ability to to service the vehicle, and more.

I believe the future is to "replace" not repair.
The easiest way to get people into a new vehicle, is make repairing their old one expensive.

I'm going through that now with my brothers 2013 Ram.
ABS module is bad. You can not replace it without VIN coding it.
You have to buy FCA software to encode the module........STUPID.

$300 in OBD FCA compatible dongle and software.....

I think GM, Stellantis, Nissan, Toyota and others would disagree with you at the moment

Leasing will become more common, owning vehicles past warranty is going start getting more and more difficult. Even Toyotas have crazy expensive repairs now.

I expect an earth shattering privacy breach from one of the big manufacturers. Toyota got a wiff of privacy vulnerability and they shut down access to nearly everyone.

We are as dependent on cars as we are on oxygen in this country. The free market will find a way to resolve the problems unless the government over regulates it.
